Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Another problem I had today I was listening to the radio when the sound cut out, now I have no sound from radio, CD, USB or anything else !!! I don't want to do a master reset as I dont want to lose my preset stations & general setup, is this a common issue with sounds & has else experienced it ??? Thanks deanie
  2. Before this starts, I take no responsibility for this going wrong for you or if it in anyway breaks your car. This is done at your risk and your risk only. It is also your responsibility to check your car's compatibility. For this upgrade, I had a Fiesta, early 2013, with the Blue LED text screen but NO track info on Bluetooth. I have taken photos and illustrated as much as possible, any questions drop below. When playing music, this is what it should look like BEFORE the upgrade This is for UK Cars I replaced an AM5T module with a D1BT module to make this work. (Pictured) First thing I did, was to double lock the car with me inside it and make sure that the radio and SYNC system were off (completely black screen). Some people disconnect the battery however I decided not to simply for the convenience of it. I kept the doors shut to prevent anything turning on, and I lay on my back with my feet on the passenger seats in the rear, and bent underneath the footwell. (Bring a flashlight) As the photo shows, you want to remove the two little black screw things, I recommend using a small key or perhaps a knife. Once you have pulled it out about half an inch, you can do the rest with finger work, however the first little bit requires a bit of effort. You want to do this for both sides, so you have 4 little bits in total (pictured) Once you have these out, the panel should fall away. You'll then be able to see the black box module, this is what you are replacing. Remove the two cables. The larger and wider cable, there is a small notch which you need to push in, this will then allow it to slide from right to left, allowing you to pull it out and remove it. Do not pull it until the grey/white band is out of the way As pictured, push that notch down, then slide the band/plastic to the left hand side. Don't force it, it should feel easy. Doing this will raise the cable/eject it slightly, allowing you to remove it with ease. For the other cable, there is a small notch to push in, once pushed in, wiggle it out and it should come just fine. Now you have the cables free, flip the little tray/shelf over and remove the two larger black screw items, they're fairly easy to get out so just use finger nails and you'll be fine. This then releases the black box, so don't drop it as they're fragile inside! Remove those two black large circles to release the box. Once released, I recommend TESTING your new box simply by plugging it in (read the end of this post for my experience, you won't regret it) and seeing if it works. Once you've checked all is good, or you're just going all out, then you want to reattach everything. Follow this guide in reverse, however one little bit of advice is, the wider you make the gap between the two little grommets (pictured below) the easier it is to slot it in before pushing upwards and sealing it. You'll know what I mean when you do it yourself. With everything back together, and all in place, my car display now looked like this. This, to me, is a much needed improvement! You will need to re-add your phone to the bluetooth settings and all that stuff. And there we have it, SYNC is fully upgraded. Read if you have issues / These were my issues: So I plugged the new module in and turned on the ignition, and it wouldn't recognise the module at all, it refused to go onto AUX mode and just wasn't working. I unplugged it, plugged in the old one to test I hadn't broken a cable. This worked fine so I plugged the new one back in, first time I had no joy. Turned engine off, waited for it to turn off and then turned it back on and it showed minor signs of life with blank screen on AUX instead of refusing to go onto it at all. I can't guarantee this will work for everyone HOWEVER, what worked for me was going onto MENU --> And clicking SYNC Settings. This brought up a 'SYNC initialising' and after hitting AUX a number of times to cycle through USB, Line in etc, it finally woke up and worked. I simply added my Phone and the Bluetooth was fine. Hope that your install goes to plan and if not, drop a question and I'll do my best to help.
  3. Problems with 'SYNC media'

Hi all, I'm currently having issues using the SYNC media function in my fiesta ecoboost. My android phone connects to SYNC via Bluetooth as usual but when I go to listen to music the message 'play music from device' appears. It does not say connect a bt device so I'm unable to play any music through my phone. This did happen to me a few months back where I ended up using the AUX instead and then it magically started working again. If anyone know what this is please advise as it's getting a bit annoying now. Kind regards, TheScoobyCollector.
  4. Spotify Integration ford SYNC

When I get in my car and start it the SYNC application page opens and says starting the application but then always says failed to start and I have to scan for new applications every time without fail. Anyone else had this issue? or knows how to fix it? I tried a master reset on SYNC and reinstalled SYNC.
  5. Hi everyone, Completely new here as just bought a 14 plate Fiesta a few weeks ago. The car is a pretty basic model, to the point where it doesn't have Bluetooth connectivity, or, as far as I can tell, any real version of Ford SYNC. I'm therefore trying to listen to music on my iPhone through USB, however something between iOS, Spotify and Ford means the tracks keep skipping after one or two seconds of playing. I've spoken to both Ford and Spotify and neither have been helpful. To get around this, I've bought an external Bluetooth adapter, but it means I have no control over my music from the dash/steering wheel controls. Im therefore wondering if it would be easier (or at all possible) to upgrade my Fiesta radio with a newer radio unit, hopefully one with inbuilt Bluetooth and phone sync capabilities. Does anyone know if it's possible to do this? Presumably my current setup wouldn't allow for incoming calls and hands free (assuming no mic etc) even if I could get Bluetooth enabled? Any guidance would be really appreciated! Cheers.
  6. Sync

Is there a website that will allow me to download the latest firmware update for my Sync unit?
  7. Hi, I have an Android phone that has been previously successfully connected to Sync. So no, this is not a brand new phone. Yes, Sync has had a connection to this phone before. It suddenly stopped connecting. As attached is the situation of pictures where I'm stuck. Basically everything is working but Sync informs me of a code that I can't change. On either end. I find Sync, but the codes doesn't match. Android (Huawei Honor 8) gives two options: Connect or cancel. No option to change the code. I don't find that option from Sync either. Things tried so far 1) Turned off Android Bluetooth 2) Turned off Sync Bluetooth 3) Restarted Android 4) Restarted Sync 5) Restarted car 6) Deleted Android from Sync 7) Deleted Sync from Android 8) Reseted defaults to Sync 9) Done Master Reset to Sync The next I'm going to do is a factory reset to Android, but do you have any other suggestions before I do that because it sounds like an overkill to me. edit. Well obviously could try with another phone too. Here's the result:
  8. Ford SYNC 1.1 reboot issue

Hello all, couple of months ago, I bought a brand new Fiesta ST-Line 1.0 Ecoboost 140PS and I had a strange issue with the satnav system. I have my android phone connected via bluetooth on the car's bluetooth system (Ford SYNC 1.1 with satnav) While I was enroute to work, I was on the phone with a client and we were talking for around 40 minutes. Then suddenly, the central console went dark like there was no power at all and the whole satnav/audio system rebooted. After the reboot, I could not access the phone option or any other bluetooth or SYNC functions on it. Once I arrived at my destination, powered off the car and left it off for a good 30 minutes. Then I powered it on and everything was back to normal... Anyone experienced anything like that before?
  9. Ford Sync Update

So I've realised that Ford UK are useless and won't update my sync for me, so I've found the US version by signing up to their website with an American VIN. Long story short I have the US sync update downloaded to my PC ready to go (i hope). I am wondering if anybody else has done this and if it works or not? I have a 2014 Fiesta Zetec with Sync v03.00.09 If I find this to work and anybody wants the update for their car (I have downloaded version 4.6 using a 2014 Fiesta Titanium) then I will send you it somehow. EDIT: Added some pics of the fiesta I used for the vin. Looks like the same stereo as mine on the inside.
  10. Good morning, I have just got my mondeo 2015.5 mk5 and it has not got reversing sensors or a reversing camera fitted. It comes as standard with the SYNC 2 system. Does anyone know of a way to retrofit a reversing camera input to the sync2 unit like it can come from factory? I have found this > http://www.carcommunications.co.uk/car-accessories/driver-safety-aids/reversing-camera-kits/ford-reverse-camera/ford-mondeo-reverse-camera/ford-reversing-rear-view-camera-kit however I am unsure of the reliability of this supplier and am sort of hoping for some instruction. Otherwise, does anyone know how much Ford charge to have this system retrofitted to a mondeo? Many thanks, Kr1stoph
  11. Sync 3 confusion - please help

Hi folks I'm looking at buying a nearly new Edge. I want one with Sync 3. Many online dealers (including Trusted Dealers.co.uk and Buyacar.co.uk) are stating that their Edge cars have Sync 3 installed, but if I look up their number plates on Ford Etis they state that they have Sync II. What's going on? Are they all clueless, lying or have I misunderstood what Sync II means?? Ta in advance TC
  12. Sync 3 - Titanium 2016 update

Hi Guys, I've not long bought a new Ford Focus Titanium 2016 car but have been having quite a lot of issues unlocking all the features. At present I believe I've got Sync3, however ford have just released "Apple Carplay" functionality but I cant get this to work or for the car to search for updates - despite reading all the guides. Can anyone help?
  13. Hi guys! Got a huge problem here with my Fusion 13 Suddenly, my ford touch, sync, stoped to make any sound. Sync seems working, but fails to make sounds.. Its updated with 3.8 version Does anyone got the same problem and fixed it? Can I anyway reinstall the 3.8 version again to try to solve? Thanks!!
  14. Sync Issue... Can't Delete Phone

Sync in my Fez (2014 ZS) is refusing to delete my phone. I go to the devices screen, click delete, confirm with yes and the phone is still there. Doesn't seem to matter if my phone has Bluetooth on, off, phone on/off it just doesn't want to let go! Phone is HTC One M8 on Andriod 4.4.3. I can play media through Sync but can't use any phone functionality. Was hoping I could delete the phone and re-pair to try and get it started from fresh. Any ideas?
  15. Hi all, I'm having issues with the Sync in my '62 plate Fiesta Zetec - whenever I connect my iPod Touch (5th gen), the display shows 'USB initializing. Please wait...' but ultimately flashes up with 'USB device not recognised'. Anyone have any ideas? Cheers, Mart
  16. Navigation enabling on sync 2

Hey everyone. I am sorry, I know this thread must have been done so many times now. I just picked up my zetec s focus under the impression it had satnav, the car i was shown at first did have it and the one I ended up buying did not even though I was under the impression they were a like for like. Anyway I asked the dealer to enable it and got the speech about a different loom and head-unit being needed (which I'm sure isn't the case) If anyone knows how to do it, or could do it for me for the ££. I would be really appreciative. I live near reading but I am willing to travel. Thank you Matt
  17. Hi all, I've seen this mentioned on the forum here and there, however nothing overly conclusive. I'm looking to upgrade the module in my MK7.5 Zetec essentially to get track info over Bluetooth. Any suggestions on which module to get/how to identify it and anyone in the know if it is 'plug and play' or if it needs any interfacing over OBD? I'm planning on making a guide to show the process for other people if i can do it myself. Thanks in advance :)
  18. Spent most the morning reading through old topics on here to get to this point, so hopefully I have the following right and some knowledgeable heads can help me confirm some stuff. I just picked up a new to me 2013 Fiesta EcoBoost Titanium X, and have found out, like I many before me I guess, that I am locked to Sync 1.0. Which means no track info via bluetooth streaming....something I would quite like. Am I right in thinking to rectify this I need to swap my current APIM (AM5T-14D212-ED) for a newer Sync 1.1 + Applink compatible APIM (D1BT-14D212-CC) and then get the latter programmed to my car and it's bluetooth track data party time? If I went to a Ford dealer and asked for the above, would they charge me a small fortune, or even not agree to do it? Would they program a APIM I supplied? Is programming always needed? I guess the APIMs are not plug and play....or are they? The temptation to order a used one off eBay and just plonk it in and see what happens is relatively high. Sorry about all the questions for a first post, but this has been doing my nut in working out exactly what's what...Ford don't make it easy sometimes do they?
  19. SYNC Update UK

Hi All, Does anybody know where I can download the latest SYNC update for the UK? Ford Fiesta Titanium 2015 1.5 TDCI Regards, Martin
  20. So for my little project car I've bought a Ford Nav unit, screen, DAB head unit, new facia and a SYNC module. I'm going to retrofit this neat little package to my Mk7 Fiesta. Now everyone I have spoke to has told me this is impossible and can't be done even though nobody has attempted it to the best of their knowledge I know a few on here have with some success. Tried speaking to dealers to see if it I can buy the separate pieces of the jigsaw for me to put back together but all seem uninterested in helping me with my queries. So does anyone here know if the SYNC lead is a separate wire or is it part of the harness behind the dashboard? And would anyone happen to have a wiring diagram for a vehicle with SYNC so I could figure this system out? I'm struggling to find a diagram for a UK spec vehicle and Google searches throw up results for US spec Ford Explorers. Oh and does anyone know what the Pink + black FAKRA connectors on the back of the screen are for? Many thanks
  21. Hi guys, I hope someone can help. I've got a 2011(61) fiesta Zetec which came from the factory with Bluetooth and Voice. I have since fitted the genuine Ford sat nav from a 2014 fiesta titanium. The screen looks great; radio works fine; sat nav is spot on. But, Voice no longer works; time doesn't display and Bluetooth will let people hear me but I cannot hear them. I have tried the system with 2 separate SYNC modules in place of the standard Bluetooth module but nothing helps. With a SYNC module plugged in I lose all radio reception (just get a segmented circle spinning). Occasionally it will say say 'SYNC CONNECTION ERROR' but mainly it won't let you access the SYNC menus at all. I took it to my local Fraud dealership in case it needed activating. They spent 90 minutes with it plugged in to then tell me they can't see the stereo set up at all on the VCM. They did promise to find out if the audio loom changed at anytime in production, although they doubted it had. They never got back to me. So, my questions are:- 1) did the audio loom change at anytime between my car being built in 2011 and the sat nav module date of 2014? 2) could this simply be a dodgy sat nav module? I bought the sat nav screen (which contains all the sat nav workings onboard), the fascia panel AND the silver radio/cd box that hides in the centre console from the same person so I know everything is matched between those components. (They were from his Fiesta that got rear-ended and written off) And yet, if I press PHONE it goes to radio and so does AUX. Is this a wiring difference or a fault? Any advice or guidance would be great. Please, no comments like "go back to the old stereo and use a Tom Tom". Yes, that would be an option but not one I want. I suffer with anxiety and have had portable sat navs die on me suddenly. That's why I have gone to the trouble and expense to try and fit the genuine Ford articles. I really hope someone help. If I could just get the Bluetooth and the clock working I'd be so happy. Cheers Andy
  22. Hi, I have a '64 focus and a few days ago SYNC stopped working with my phone. It's the original SYNC I believe - it's not touchscreen. Been having a look through these forums and tried: Re-syncing phone A different phone Performing master reset on SYNC within the settings Tried each of these a couple of times with no luck. The main symptoms are: Phone appears to connect, but when going to BT audio it comes up with phone disconnected pretty much straight away. It recognises when a call is incoming/outgoing, and also during a call it all appears normal on screen - but there is no audio in or out. I can't see any further suggestions in these forums other than the stuff I've tried - any suggestions anyone? Or, is it likely this will be a Ford job? It's still within it's 3 year warranty so it's not a big deal if this is the case... Thanks in advance all!
  23. Sync Voice control

Is it possible to control the radio using the Sync voice commands? I can control my phone ok so it must be understanding my voice, but when I try to use it to change stations or tune in the radio to a specific frequency it just switches to a random radio station on the display and hangs up with no sound from radio. I have to switch it on and off again to get voice commands to work for anything after that. The owners manual has examples of commands you can use to control the radio but none of them seem to work. Do they only apply to certain versions ? I've got a 2016 Fiesta ST-Line 140 brand new last week. Sync says version 5.10.
  24. Hi All, Just a curiosity question here, decided before Ford make the change to the "ST-Line" idea to get in on a decent deal with a new Focus Zetec S. Managing to pick one up from the dealership brand new, not been registered yet (getting sent up here on a flatbed), however what nobody can answer me is the SYNC system. I have a choice between the Sat Nav or the Non Sat Nav models. Drove a Vauxhall Corsa SRI from work the other week and it has the Intellilink system so that your phones functions (Google Maps, Spotify etc.) all work on the 9" Touchscreen. I understand this exists on the Ford's via 'AppLink' or 'SYNC 3'. If I pickup the Focus this Saturday being as its brand new, is this going to have SYNC 3 on it? If not is it up gradable (I'm assuming its just a software upgrade)? If not is it worth me just getting the Sat Nav model? Cheers Everyone. Jim
