Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. I read on other forums that the US now has v3.0 for Sync3. Just wonderjng if anyone has heard of any updates for UK models? Also, has anyone had their map nav data updated? I'm finding so many roads that have been changed/added, for a few years now, that still isn't in the nav supplied with my Sept 2016 Sync3 system! So much for updates over WiFi! Had mine connected to my home network for a year now ... not a dicky bird! .... Nothing ! No point including tech if they are not going to use it.
  2. The sync 3 sat nav on my late (December) 2016 focus titanium x doesn't display the road speed limit, which I hope it's supposed to, and I'm trying to work out why. The pictures showing the navigation screen displaying the speed limit seems to have disappeared from the Ford UK web site so I'm not sure whether that functionality was ever delivered as part of sync 3. The issue is slightly complicated as I have traffic sign recognition (best yet is it saying it's seen a 120mph sign) and I'm not sure how the two are supposed to interact in sync 3. My Focus was ordered in August from the previous brochure (sync 2) which said there was full integration between the sign recognition and the sat nav so that if no speed limit sign was seen the speed limit from the sat nav map would be displayed. This doesn't happen with mine - I can drive round for ages in a 30 limit and unless it sees a sign nothing is displayed. So, I'd be grateful if anyone with sync 3 sat nav could advise whether the speed limit is displayed and if anyone has the sat nav and the traffic sign recognition could let me know what they get displayed and where (nav screen or traffic sign recognition display) I can decide whether I have a faulty system. Many thanks for your help. Ian
  3. Hi All, recently i have just visit one guy that is a really great technician and programmer when it comes to Ford vehicles. Last few months he spent digging with SYNC3 devices and he finally found a way how to add the Sat Nav into nonNAV version of SYNC 3. So i thought that at least i can give you all an info that it is really possible and what it takes to retrofit the navigation in SYNC3. TheEU nonNAV version of SYNC3 usually should already be equipped with GPS antenna (as it was also with SYNC2). Also it has an internal 16GB e.MMC memory where it is not possible to retrofit the navigation (small space for EU maps). That is why a soldering is involved. 1. A new 64GB e.MMC memory is needed 2. Then we have to open the APIM module and remove the original 16GB e.MMC card. 3. We need to have a special e.MMC card reader and clone the data from 16GB card to a new 64GB card. 4. Setting the serial number ESN to a new memory 5. Solder the new e.MMC memory to the APIM 6. Another custom installation update package with navi maps + navi app will be installed 7. Test if everything works After connecting the APIM module later to a Ford's server they will be able to recognize it as a NAV version and will also provide you MAP updates for future and any Ford dealer can later perform also standard NAV updates. So actually the Sat Nav will be retrofitted as from the factory. Yeah, the retrofit of the navigation is for real not so easy as it is with SYNC 2 and involves much more time, gadgets and patient. The guy has only done it to few of his friends. But i have asked him if he maybe will not be willing to do it for others from around the Europe. So maybe if somebody from here will be interested PM me and i can ask him for his time but really have no idea how much would he charge for it @Admins: if this topic somehow violates the rules, please delete it :)
  4. Sync 3 - Titanium 2016 update

Hi Guys, I've not long bought a new Ford Focus Titanium 2016 car but have been having quite a lot of issues unlocking all the features. At present I believe I've got Sync3, however ford have just released "Apple Carplay" functionality but I cant get this to work or for the car to search for updates - despite reading all the guides. Can anyone help?
  5. Has anyone completely lost all album art overnight? It was there for me yesterday. Now I just have an empty space whether I choose Media or Gracenote priority.
  6. I am about to get a new Kuga and my brother (who works for ford) says there is an annoying bug when you are using CarPlay in that if selecting navigation it will always take you to the CarPlay maps instead of the sync3 built in sat nav. Does anyone else else have experience of this? if so, does it mean you have to unplug your phone to stop CarPlay and use the built in navigation?
  7. Hi everyone, I am a new owner of a 66 Plate Mondeo with the SYNC 3 Infotainment system. I'm not sure what i am trying to do is possible with the SYNC 3, and wondered whether the forum can offer any guidance or help? The Ford Customer Services Twitter account has been unable to help, suggesting i speak to the dealer where i purchased the car. The trouble is, as it is a lease vehicle, i had no contact with the dealership. Before i bug my local dealer, and potentially make myself look stupid, i thought i would make myself look stupid on the Internet first. So my question. With the SYNC 3 system, is it possible to have my work mobile phone connected via Bluetooth , and my personal mobile connected to the USB running Android Auto at the same time? It seems that once either Android Auto or CarPlay are connected with the SYNC 3, that a standard Bluetooth connection is not possible? Is this the case, or am i missing something? Ideally i want my work mobile taking preference over the Bluetooth for all incoming calls, and my personal mobile as a secondary device just for music, podcasts and audiobooks. Also, on the SAT NAV, is there a simple option to "Save Current Location" as a favorite. It seems i can only add a favorite by using an address or postcode. I cant seem to find an option to save my current location to the favorites list, unless i know the address.
