Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Boot lighting

I am considering putting another light (similar location on the left side of my boot (inside) and was just wondering if anyone else has done this. My plan is to remove the left piece of trim which holds the parcel shelf up and make a hole at the exact same position as on the right trim. I think maybe run a splice into the earth and power of the right light to supply what's needed for the left light. Basically wondering since I switched the bulb to led (lower power) will I need to upgrade the fuse or add a relay? If anyone does have a better method please post below, I'm bored and just need things to do :-) My car is a mk6.5 (56 reg) 1.25 petrol fiesta STyle.
  2. The tailgate release button on the dash next to the steering wheel on my Fiesta isn't opening the boot it seems, I though the the boot button on the key itself would still open it and after trying to open the boot with the button on the key that didn't open it either. Only way I can access the boot atm is the good old fashioned way with the lock + key. How will I fix it? Anyone had same problem? Is it a quick cheap easy fix? cheers
  3. 2016 towbar

Hi I cannot find a detachable towbar to fit my 2016 S Max. Ford do not supply one. My 2016 S Max car has not got self-levelling suspension. It has a spare wheel. It does not have Sport Pack body trim. It has a foot operated tailgate - keyless entry. The foot operated tailgate appears to be what is stopping towbar manufacturers supplying a towbar. When a towbar is fitted, I do not require a foot operated tailgate ( I recently was taking a box out of the boot when the tailgate started closing as the detector had seen my foot move away from the boot area). Witter technical state that they can supply a towbar to fit, but that the foot detector for the tailgate has to be moved. They also state that they have produced towbars for the S Max & Kuga, which have foot operated tailgates, for the past few years, without issues. What options are there for the foot detector after fitting a towbar? The options I would prefer for the foot detector, after a witter towbar was fitted are, in order of preference:- - cover the detector so that it never operates (less risk of being hit on the head when removing boxes from the boot) - disable the foot detector electrically, when the electrics are re-programmed after the towbar is fitted. - re-position the foot detector as suggested by witter. Anyone got any thoughts about fitting a detachable towbar to an S Max with the above spec? Thanks
  4. Fiesta Tailgate panel - 2015

Hi everyone, New to the forum, not new to owning a Ford. On here to look for a bit of help sourcing a rear tailgate panel for a 2015 Fiesta. It's the panel that is above the rear plate and encases the badge (see image). Stupidly cracked it against a gate reversing in the dark recently. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  5. Hi Folks, I am very new to this online type of discussions so please forgive any fluffs I make. I am in my Eightieth year and was lucky enough to be come the proud owner of a Kuga Titanium X. I absolutely loved the car and spend my days hillwalking with my trust companion Max. I started to get an Oil change warning after 11,000kms. The vehicle was not due a service for another 4 months so I put it down to a fault. I contacted the garage and was told to drive away until my service due date. I then found that the automatic boot would re-open about 20 seconds after it closed. This has happened on at least a dozen occasions. Unfortunately due to the oil warning on the dash I didn't get the warning telling me that the boot was open. This boot opening has seen the dog jumping out of the vehicle while it is moving. I have returned the vehicle to the garage and they are insisting after almost 3 weeks of testing that it must be human error. My son and daughter have driven the vehicle and the same issue has arisen. I would be really grateful if you folks could share if you have experienced anything similar. I unfortunately cannot drive the vehicle because I'm afraid for my dog, and I'm not in a position to change the vehicle because I have had it adapted for disability purposes. I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my little moan, Kind regards, Jack & Max.
  6. The power operated tailgate sometimes doesn't lift up. The catch opens and then it closes again. This is intermittent so it will surely work perfectly if I take it to the dealer. This is the same when using the key or the button on the door. Anyone got any ideas?
  7. Boot lip/trim needed!

Hey everyone. A number of the plastic clips that hold the boot trim in place have broken! I wrapped my boot trim in carbon fibre (from that horrible chrome finish), and this is where I noticed. It now doesn't sit properly in place and has gaps. Does anyone know where I could get a new one, or is anyone selling one? OR is there another way I can fix it to the car, sticky pads or something?! Thanks.
  8. Hello after a lorry reversed into my wife's MK6 fiesta I have purchased a replacement tailgate but after getting it home I have realised it is a mk6.5 and has a single connecting block compared to the current one which has 2 blocks, can any body help with a wiring diagram for both, I am hoping to wire the new single block into the current double one the main problem is the current has 10 wires and new has 9. the tailgate I have purchased is in excellent condition so wiring it in is my favourite option as apposed to replacing + it would look better, any help would be appreciated
  9. Hi, some !Removed! has keyed the Mrs car bonnet and tailgate, I just wondered if anyone knew if the tailgate comes as a complete unit or you can buy spare parts as where it's been done its on a panel, to save expensive respray on the tailgate at least and maybe be able to go to the local scrapyard if so
  10. Hi, Some dozy prat * reversed my Mk4 into a rough stone wall and mangled the top of the tailgate. Looking around for salvaged spares I can only find the original Mk4 design, not the 2011 / 60 plate refresh with the different shaped rear lights etc. is the bare metal part still physically compatible? I'm given to strongly think it is, and it's only the plastic moldings and light clusters that are different, but would appreciate confirmation from anyone that knows for sure before I buy an old one and move the plastic across once fitted.. Thanks! * yeah... me...
  11. Hi all, I hope the forum can help me here. I have had water ingress in the luggage area of the boot boot of my Focus estate for the last 3 months. Over that time, it has been into the dealer 3 times and the leak has still not been fixed. The have done the following: -Put sealant round the tailgate hinges (a common source of ingress apparently) -Had the roof lining away and still not been able to pinpoint the leak source Alas, this has still not fixed it and water is still coming in though the rear plastic 'vents' on the inside of the rear pillars. Taking the tailgate seals away and looking inside the (soaked) lining indicates water is still coming in from somewhere, and the lining is soaked up to 2-3 inches from the top corner of the tailgate. This might indicate that the leak is coming from that area. This problem is occurring in both the right and the left hand side of the car, bust mostly on the left. My car also has t-track roof rack fixings. I really hope someone can help me here! The car is perfect besides this. All the best and a belated Merry Christmas to you all!
  12. Galaxy III 2006 LHD boot will not open. No noise from electric lock when trying handle or using fob to lock/unlock. There are no other problems with car. I have tried pressing against the door to reduce load on lock mechanism while trying to open the boot - no luck. The boot trim screws are only accessible when boot open. Pried off top of trim in hopes of finding manual release but cannot reach inside. In desperation I cut a small panel out behind the lock mechanism but nothing visible except 3 screws on back of lock. Unscrewed them, but the latch is closed (I assume) so door opened about 2 inches and will neither open further or close. . Can anyone please help with a solution?
  13. so someone decided to hit the back of the bootlid and do a runner, need to replace this part does anyone know the part number for this please. it's the trim that holds the number plate lights and the hatch release for the bootlid, also any ideas as to how much it will cost and garage cost to replace it for me. its just the plastic that needs to be replaced but knowing my luck screws might be messed up inside. thankfully latch still working!!!
  14. Hi everyone, Hope someone can help in guiding me how to remove the trim on my 2007 Ford smax tailgate. I need to replace the faulty release switch. I can not see any screws and a bit frightened of just pulling the trim. Cheers Terry
  15. Hi folks. I'm new to forum's and not great with cars either and I have a problem with my 2004/5 ford focus 1800 tdi estate. Just recently, my one and only key fob collapsed. The fobs inside circuit damaged and useless. I have always used the fob to unlock the tailgate but now I can't get it open. The central locking works when using the key in drivers door but still the tailgate remains locked. I purchased a second hand fob from eBay and followed the user manual to set the code on it and this didn't work either. Has anyone got any ideas on how I can get my tailgate open. Cheers neil

  19. Chrome Tailgate Piece

I have a Mk7 zetec, which includes lots of chrome pieces all over it. Which do look good, however, almost all zetec's have them, and so there not very unique. So i was reading up (and watching up ) on plastidip and i think its fairly good stuff, if its done right, so i think i'm going to cover all the chrome bits black (matt/gloss) havent decided just yet. But i was wondering if anyone knew how to remove the chrome tailgate piece? above the number plate, but below the ford badge? Also, is plastidip okay to coat individual parts? Will i need to coat the whole part, or can i just coat the bit that you can see? Any help appreciated, Cheers, Olly. :)
  20. Replacing Tailgate

I am about to replace the tailgate on my fusion (as the old one is damaged) and would like to know, is there a plug for the electrics? I have pulled out the gromit and had a look, but the wiring loom just seems to dissapear behind the headlining. Before I start to strip down the interior, could someone please tell me if there is a plug, or will I just have to feed all the wires into the new tailgate? Many thanks, Paul.
