Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. Hi I had a look at removing a focus mk2 windscreen today. Could do with a little advise before I continue though. I have got the wire to cut through the adhesive. Do you need to take the trim on the edge of the screen out first.i tried to do this, but it kept breaking off. Not sure if it should come out with the screen, or to take it out first. I' assuming a new screen doesn' come with the trim on it. Just wondered if anyone had any experience in this area. I would be great full of anyone' input.

  3. Exterior grey trim

I've recently bought a 2007 ford focus and ice got a query regarding the grey exterior trim, such as the bottom part of the bumpers and the grey trim just underneath the boot door. Can these be replaced with anything a bit nicer looking? Or is it literally a case of having them removed, sprayed and reattached? Tia
  4. Boot lip/trim needed!

Hey everyone. A number of the plastic clips that hold the boot trim in place have broken! I wrapped my boot trim in carbon fibre (from that horrible chrome finish), and this is where I noticed. It now doesn't sit properly in place and has gaps. Does anyone know where I could get a new one, or is anyone selling one? OR is there another way I can fix it to the car, sticky pads or something?! Thanks.
  5. Hey guys, does any one know how to remove the silver boot handle trim thing? Because I would like it to be black but I'm not sure how to remove it?
  6. Hi All, I would be grateful if you could advise me on this. I was cleaning my wipers the other day and noticed the plastic trim at the bottom of the windscreen is loose. I worried lots of rain water will be getting in there , potentially causing damage rust. Do you think I can just superglue it back in place or fit some rubber trim? any advise welcome. Thank you please
  7. Small damage to dashboard trim

Hi all I'm wondering if anyone can share any tips on how to repair this "gouge" in my dashboard trim please? I'm not into wraps and the likes. I was thinking maybe a little filler and a touch of paint, so that it doesn't stand out so much (not that it stands out, it's just annoying me that it's there!). As always with you guys, any comments are welcome! Thanks Jody
  8. I've had the car about 4 years & not really done much to it other than an EGR blank & servicing (until this week). This week I decided it was time for a change, below is a list of what I've got done so far in the last 3 days: Wrapped as much of the front interior as I can (easier said than done for some parts) so that's: The 4 satin steel steering wheel trims Single DIN head unit fascia Upper centre console Gearshift fascia Handbrake fascia Foot well lower trims Lower centre console including the rear "cubby hole" Fitted a single DIN Sony head unit with Bluetooth Fitted the external mic & route the cable out of sight Fitted a new chrome & leather gearshift gaiter & surround Replaced the tatty black gear knob with a nice silver one from a Mondeo Replaced all the accessible interior lighting with "white" LEDs Replaced the number plate bulbs with "white" LEDs (integrated resistors because the previous set flickered like a B**CH) Replaced the brake & reverse lights with CREEs (hint the reverse lights now illuminate the kerbside like sidelights which makes parallel parking/reversing at night without clouting the alloys a whole lot easier) Replaced the main beam & side lights with nice "white" ones (side lights are LED) Replaced the single light bulb in the glovebox Replaced the single light blun in the boot with 3 "white" LED pads (I had to wire resistors to ensure there was enough load to stop them flickering, so they're not a bright as they were originally but at least now they won't give someone a epileptic fit!) Unfortunately I didn't think to take "before" photos although I'm sure everyone here knows what the inside of a MK2 looks like & how crap the standard "yellow" interior lighting is along with "real" wood effect plastic trim!! To get a bit of practice with the wrapping I bought some unbranded (cheap) carbon wrap on ebay & had 4 goes at the centre console before I was happy that I'd got half an idea what I was doing. From Friday night onwards I've pretty much worked non stop on the car, I removed the entire centre console (head unit console, surround, gearshift fascia, handbrake fascia, footwell trims & the main centre console with the cup holders etc) & got to work wrapping. The final wrap material I used is 3M 1080 which is what the wrapping specialists use & there is a MAJOR difference in quality. If you're thinking of going for the carbon fiber vinyl look, once you've had a good practice with the cheap stuff, don't be cheap get the good stuff, it's even got the tactile finish to it i.e. it's not a flat print & is much more resistant to being overstretched. Unfortunately it seems to be pretty much impossible to wrap the bottom centre console itself due it's shape (6 different wrapping specialist confirmed that they can't wrap it). I'm really happy with the end result although I am thoroughly sick of the sight of carbon fiber wrap, lol! I've still got the 3 screw covers for the foot well trims to wrap but that should only take 15 minutes or so (but not today). I replaced the rather poor Ford Transit style head unit with a single DIN Sony with Bluetooth & fitted the external mic with the cable routed out of sight but once again forgot to take pictures as I went along (removing the front A pillar trim was a bit of pain but I managed it without breaking any clips so I'm happy with that) I've also replaced the brake & reversing exterior bulbs with CREE LED's & all the user accessible interior bulbs including the glove box light (i.e. not the SMDs in the door controls etc) with "white" LED's (I'll take pictures tonight of the lights - & yes I know the car needs a good wipe down/vacuuming) I'm really happy with things so far. I've also removed my EGR blank & booked in for a Terraclean on Thursday so i'll be sure to post back with the results. My plans between now & 3 months time when I get my annual bonus are: Upgraded climate control dials (like Lenny's) 2 new front wings (rust bubble central) New mud flaps all round Strip back both sills to the metal Colour code the fog light front bumper strips Respray for the bonnet, wings, sills (all the way up to door seals) & all 4 doors so hopefully I should have nice "shinee" front end. On an unrelated note I can thoroughly recommend Nokian Weatherproof tyres for snow & wet weather driving (Auto Express weren't wrong when they rated them 100% for snow/rain). I had 2 fitted on the front in January for the MOT & I've given them a thorough thrashing in the recent weather, despite the big heavy lump up front (the engine not me) the front end has a lovely positive turn in, even in heavy rain. Not something I could say about the Chinese "ditchfinders" I had on previously. Feel free to comment, any suggestions etc are very welcome, if I can give anyone else any help I'll be more than happy to.
  9. Ford Fiesta Side Trim

This morning I noticed the side trim on the floor I tried to put it back on but it just falls of 10 minutes later so i've had to take it off until I can fit it back on. Has anyone had any experience with theese it looks like a gromet fits into the side door and the rest is held on by what look to be like a double sided sticky seal. Here is an link to what has fallen off any help would be apreciated https://gyazo.com/925930e246acc349930477eb12abbf12 Thanks Matt

Things im thinking of doing, -New matte black rims (seen some 19" that i do like and will get) -New grill (preferably the honeycomb one) -Not to sure about the light brows at the minute -Maybe a boot spoiler -Front sports bumper depending if i can find one i like or ill just get the grill and a splitter I seen this concept rs that looked a beast but have no idea where to get the parts (more than likely because its the concept but I found the splitter for it just not the actual look of the bumper etc) its in the pics below along with my car
  13. 2015 Zetec S Or Titanium X

Hi All, It's coming up to the three year mark so I get a new Ford Focus, I was really hoping to be able to get the Titanium X with a Zetec S pack, turns out that's not possible. After looking into both cars the one thing I'm quite sure of is.. I'm really not that hyped on the new Zetec S, I like it better than the standard but it's just not like my 2012 Zetec S which I absolutely love. So I'm torn between choosing the Zetec S (although I don't like it as much it's still nicer than the standard) but the gadgets on the Titanium X just sounds awesome.. I can't make my mind up. What's peoples opinions? I'd like to mention I don't mean to come across negative about the new Zetec S it's still a lovely looking car, but I loved the older Zetec S model.. had such an awesome back diffuser, lovely low front lip I just liked it so much more. And can anyone give some feedback on the upgraded premium ford sync 2 DAB system with 10 speakers and sub, on my Ford I had the normal system which in my opinion sounded great.
  14. Fiesta Rubber Door Trim Coming Off

Hi guys the rubber trim on my fiesta rear doors are coming off (the rubber bits that seal the front of the rear doors to the B pillar) I was wondering if anyone knew a way to replace or mend these without resorting to paying the dealers £100 for each. I have considered trying some kind of araldite/support glue but was worried about what that'd do to the rubber seals life or appearance afterwards
  15. Replacement Interior Trim

Hi All, I would like to replace all the interior (silver) trim on my 2010 Fiesta Titanium as they are begining to look a little worn and dated (especailly pieces on the doors) I've previously seen a US company selling replacement parts for all the silver trim parts (Speedo & rev counter trim, around the radio, air vents, door trim) but cant remember the name or website, anyone know where I can get them from. Hope that all makes sense Lee
  16. The plastic trim that runs horizontally across the middle of the front passenger side door is coming away. I've had a price of £70 for the replacement part + fitting or £31 for the part only. Would it be easy to fit myself does anyone know?
  17. I took the roof gutter trim off to fit roof bars. I have to give the car back in a couple of weeks (was a company car). What product (glue/sealant etc) should I use to reaffix the trim strips back down?
  18. Trim Needed Mk7 Fiesta

  20. Remove B Pillar Trim Clips

I have a Ford Fiesta and the B Pillar Trim (the ones next to the window) has come off leaving the clips attached. Please can anyone advise how to remove these. Thanks, Jeremy
  21. Mk 1 1999 Boot Trim Panels

Hi, My Mk1 '99 Saloon appears to have a missing trim panel in the boot (see photo). My investigations thus far with the main stealer have only resulted in being stuck with another "slam panel" which as you can I see I already have. I'd be grateful if other owners can confirm that I do have some trim missing and what the part number(s) might be. I am only worried about it as the cable running accross the back of the car has had damage to the insulation where stuff has been rolling around in the boot. I'd be happy to buy the bits from a scrappy but I want to make sure I get the right ones. Thanks in advance
  22. Air Vent Trims!

Hi all, does anyone know how to remove the little plastic silver surrounds from the air vents? There are 4 in total and I need to remove them as I'm looking to wrap them in black. The car is an 08 reg focus Zetec (facelift) Thanks in advance! If left to my own devices i'd end up snapping them :/
  23. Afternoon everyone. Before I get on to the parts I'm selling, I just have a few queries... would anyone be able to tell me the compatability of a 1.4 gearbox to the 1.25 engine. Planning on putting the higher ratio gearbox onto my engine, for top speed bonuses and economy. I'm also looking For the bulb part number of the Clock lights. As I wish to change them for LED Type Also the part number for the internal lights of the centre console. "Fog light illumination light" , "Temperature control, Area of flow and the selector" lights, And lastly I'm wondering If LED indicators are road legal, I've seen a pair on ebay but nowhere does it mention that they are or aren't for road use and this seems to be a common practice. Can any of the MOT/Police ford owners shed some light (no pun) on this please? Okaay. Bits for sale: 14" Original Fiesta Zetec Alloys. No Damage. 24. Hi all New Mk7 Fiesta Titanium 1.4 auto owner here. 2012 model, 3months old, picked it up yesterday. Looking into the boot from the rear seat area (after folding them down) I noticed that under the tailgate lip (to the boot floor - and the width of the tailgate) there is no trim covering the paint work underneath. I can even see some sealant or something with that appearence that just looks like it should not be on show. Perhaps Ford didn't bother because you can't see it when you look into the boot from the back of the car. I was wondering if any other Titanium owner's, or even any Mk7 Fiesta owner could look in the boot and see if their's is the same? Many thanks T
  25. Just wondering how do you get your speedo out in a mk6 fiesta zetec s... I've took all the trim pieces off down to just havin to do the final two screws on the speedo but it wouldn't pull out? Maybe I wasn't being harsh enough. Any help is appreciated. Cheers guys :D
