Posting in General Chat thread.   11/11/2017

it has been noted that too many Members are posting messages in the General Chat area instead of the correct Forums. Any messages posted in the General Chat area that are not General Chat will be deleted without warning and offenders may recieve warning points if repeated instances are seen from that Member. There are plenty of different Club areas that encompass 99% of Ford related posts, please select and use the correct one. If anyone is not sure of which area to post something then feel free to P/M myself or other Senior Staff for guidance. The Moderating Staff are having to spend far too much time chasing this problem instead of maintaining the other areas of the forum.

  1. 59 focus 1.6 titanium breaks

Hey guys Noticed in this poor weather my car stopping doesn't seem to be the best and abs locking in too easy sliding over man hole covers so the tyres are going to get changed. But breaks when doing gental breaking I'm getting vibration through the steering wheel so I'm going to change pads and discs. Any recommendations?? Also how hard would it be to upgrade to St calipers discs pads. And I'm sure the rear is drum breaks is there a guide to make a disc conversion? Cheers
  2. Sat Nav Maps

Hi All, What is the latest version of maps for the sync two console. I'm picking up a year old mondeo and have requested that the latest version is supplied but the dealer (main ford dealership) does not know what version this is, or so they claim and i don't want to be ripped off with them stating they have provided the latest version but don't Thanks in advance all Matt
  3. Hello everyone, I recently changed my basic two line monochrome blue display with full color sony display, i only changed the screen, it was plug and play. My car didn't have sync or bluethooth to begin with, only USB and radio/CD, after the screen change USB and radio/CD work as intented. My issue is that with the new screen, I lost the car information messages (for example when a door is open, i no longer get the message on the screen), i lost the MYKEY menu aswell. When i go into setting, i only have audio setting and time setting, not even the option to change the language, I have not replaced the silver box, also i have not replaced the facia, still have the 1-6 numberpad. Is there a way i can get the car information messages back on my new shiny display, i dont car for bluethooth/sync and can live without MYKEY feature but i definetly want the car information messages feature back. Anyone who have done this mod before please advice, thanks :)
  4. As title, can anyone give me a definitive answer as to whether a sync-era display and sony branded radio can be fitted to a non-sync (BT/VC system) car, and bluetooth still work - less bothered about nav voice control, but voice control in general I could also do with keeping functional. Thanks Mark
  5. Upgrade running gear

Hi everyone been looking at upgradeing my shock and springs on my 2014 ranger I have looked at pedders is there any other companies out there with the same quality thanks
  6. Upgrades

Recently bought a well specced 2013 titanium fiesta, low milage with zetec s exterior but only has a 80ps econetic engine, wondering if there are any upgrades I can make to the car to improve its performance. Cheers.
  7. St220 caliper upgrade

Hope this helps anyone that is intrested in this, on my youtube channel there are how-to videos on halogen to Xenon conversion, start/stop buttons, spark plug changes and more. Cheers
  8. Hi, This is my first post! I have recently obtained a Ford Fiesta 2003 as a present from my parents as my first car. I am wanting to change the stock radio which came with the car (the triple section 4500 RDS). I have been looking at possible radios to replace the old one with but I wondered if there would be any cable swapping required or whether I would just be able to use an adapter. Here are the radios I am looking at: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kenwood-KDC-164UB-Radio-CD-Tuner-Illumination/dp/B00OTIDCSG/ref=sr_1_11?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1444244224&sr=1-11&keywords=car+radio http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-CDX-G2000UI-Player-iPhone-Control/dp/B00GUD98JA/ref=sr_1_8?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1444244224&sr=1-8&keywords=car+radio I would really appreciate any advice you have on fitting these radios! I realise I need to cut away the three sections on the dash and a fascia. Thanks allot, Charlie Wood ************************************************UPDATE***************************************************** I have found out the information required and ordered a radio.
  9. In case anyone doesn't know, Ford offer speaker upgrades which can be fitted at Ford dealers http://www.ford-accessories.co.uk/fiesta/2012/infotainment/audio?intcmp=other:acc:pdp:prod-list-view::select-product-group# I'm just wondering if anyone has had either the sub or speaker upgrade installed in Northern Ireland. If so, which dealer did it and would you mind sharing how much it was in total? I'm interested in having the sub (and potentially speakers) installed in my 2013 Fiesta Zetec S Ecoboost. I previously rang up Boucher road/Mallusk (can't remember which) in Belfast/Newtownabbey. They initially told me they don't offer speaker upgrades, and only checked after I explained that it is advertised on the Ford accessories website. They weren't able to give me an estimate of how much it would cost to install. Presumably they haven't done it before, and in the end I didn't bother as they didn't inspire me with any confidence and were generally unhelpful.
  10. Stereo upgrade?

Hi guys, I'm new here! :) recently bought a 2014 fiesta! not a big fan of the stereo (pictured) can anyone advise on which aftermarket stereo is best and will work with the steering controls? I've already found a fitting kit (pictured) just wondering about the actual stereo itself! Cheers!
  11. Hi, I own a 2000 Reg Fiesta and i'm looking to upgrade the sound system. I've done some reading and it seems this is harder than initially anticipated. Firstly is this possible with the current wiring I have in the speakers? Do I need to change the wiring or increase the power output to the speakers? I am only looking for entry level speakers for the fiesta such as these: https://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-focal-130as_p-32021.htm but I am also open to suggestion if someone could recommend some. I will only need to upgrade the passenger side and driver side of the front seats as these are the only ones with speakers in them. The fiesta also has speakers by the door handles as well which may need upgrading if possible? If someone could provide some general advise that would be great... is this upgrade possible at a relatively low cost? (max £250 inc speaker price) Thanks.
  12. So, my first post on the forums (please go easy on me)! 😂 Anyway, here goes… I have a Ford Fiesta Mk7 (58 Reg - 2009) which came with the numerical dial-pad stereo and Bluetooth only from factory, and wanted to upgrade to have both USB and Bluetooth streaming enabled. After reading some threads here and a bit of research, I decided to take the plunge and purchased a Novero 8M5T-19C112-AT module off of eBay, replacing the Novero 6M2T-19G488-AG module, along with the appropriate fascia for the AUX and USB ports and routing the USB cable from the module to it. I then got on to a local garage who happily programmed via Ford IDS, the parameters (that others have mentioned several times): 'USB Accessory Unit' > 'With USB Unit and iPod function' and 'Bluetooth Handsfree' > 'BT/VC Phone Interface + USB connect'. I also remember some kind of BVC setting that was either 'Low' or 'High' (or something involving those words). Attempted update via USB to update module/stereo which showed as being successful on the stereo display. Unfortunately, here are the symptoms: USB power does work. When plugging a USB stick in, it can see the MP3 files but will not play back (reverting back to AUX). Pressing the AUX button multiple times does nothing. iPod and USB options do now appear, but only accessible when respective device is connected; However, no Bluetooth option visible. 'External Device' voice commands result in 'Not Possible' response. Connecting devices via Bluetooth and attempting to stream audio does not play sound through the car stereo, although devices appear to play like 'normal'. Pulling stereo and module fuses to force power reset does not work. Disconnecting USB and module loom cable to force reset does not work. Don't know if anyone remembers coming across this issue, but I've tried to see if anyone else had similar issues on the web forums, but no real luck, apart from one quite similar, if not the same situation, that involved making sure both relevant parameters were programmed via Ford IDS. Therefore: Could the incorrect BVC parameter of either 'Low (non-branded)' or 'High (non-branded)' affect the functions? Possibility of malfunctioning module? Is it normal for iPod and USB options not to do anything unless connected? Might just be the display, but it does kind of look like the iPod and USB options are hashed out? Does the actual stereo/relevant equipment need updating via Ford IDS or is updating via standard USB connection adequate enough? Apologies for such a detailed post, but hope it's good enough for anyone to fully understand the situation. Would be good to get it working! Let me know what you guys think. Much appreciated! P.S. Oh, and also anyone with Ford IDS who can help in the Leeds/West Yorkshire region?
  13. Has anyone upgraded their steering wheel before how easy is it basically i want extra buttons on mine as mine didnt come with bluetooth i would like the phone buttons, my current one has the cruise control buttons can anyone suggest where i can get ones from ideally ford models
  14. Looking for a bit of info if anyone can help, my wife has just purchased a 2009 Fiesta Zetec and to cut a long story short has been a bit messed about by the dealer, they have offered her £100 towards the genuine DAB radio upgrade by means of compensation, before we go ahead with this has anyone had this done and are they any good?
  15. Ford Focus 2012 Radio Change

Hi All, First Post... So i have had a 2012 Focus for a little while now, and have been looking for the perfect thing to do to my MK3. This morning i found it. So that stock nasty radio in the focus, i have decided has got to go. The blue dot matrix screen needs an upgrade. So, this being the case i dont actually want to spend a lot of money if i can avoid it. What with the whole sony radio system and screen shaping up to be quite expensive brand new... I know the screen is bigger for the colour LCD, so i am aware its not as simple as just unplugging the dot matrix, and that i would need the Sony Facia to match. But do i need to swap the whole radio, or does someone know if i can simply get away with swapping the front facia plate and putting the new LCD screen in? Or am i just asking for a world of issues? The reason i ask is that i have actually found a sony facia and LCD screen, but not the radio part for a sensible price, but dont want to buy it if its not going to fit/work. Hope someone can help, Thanks, Ryan. EDIT: Im aware quite a few of these sort of posts exist, but none i could find that face the above situation.
  16. Titanium engine upgrade

Hi guys, I'm sort of new to the forum, constantly reading threads on it, but never made an account. I have a Ford Focus Titanium 61 Plate 1.6 TDCI I have been been looking to upgrade most of my hoses under my hood, however I am struggling for a kit to buy, as most websites only supply the ST Silicone Hose kits. I have made the mistake of ordering 1 for my turbo and it was a totally wrong fit. Not many people upgrade their engine on this car therefore it's hard to come by parts, maybe if someone can point me in the right direction, it will help anyone else who has the same problem. Can anyone help? Thanks
  17. Ecoboost to ST

Hi guys, just a quick questions for anyone who currently owns an Fiesta ST. Wondering if you could tell the average MPG you're achieving, whether that be on a run or round town. Would like to know a ball park figure for each. As I'm looking to upgrade my ecoboost next year for something I can get work done to and start a project with. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers.
  18. Ford Fiesta Mk V Cabin Noise/Upgrade

Hi All, I've had a Ford Fiesta Mark VI Finesse (2004 model) for about 3 years. First car, just needed something quickly. Took it to the garage recently, and the staff commented "That's a really lovely car" which I didn't really understand as i consider it basic....but he said it runs well for it's age and I see his point, a really nice drive and hasn't let me down yet. However, I've started to do a fair bit of motorway driving regularly and I find the cabin too noisy on longer journeys (I've got tinnitus already from numerous concerts/loud music over the years and it makes it worse) so I'm seeking to make the cabin noise quieter. Will garage staff dampen the insides/doors etc if I buy the materials for it? Don't really want to go messing with the interiors and taking doors apart etc, as don't know what I'm doing really and don't want to mess it up. Also, how do the new fiestas/focuses fair on cabin noise compared to the Mk V's? I am considering upgrading. I cannot really afford a nice quiet bmw, vw or audi at the moment as saving for a mortgage, so my upgrade will probably be modest by newer models, though I'm happy to hear from anyone regarding what is quieter to drive and any next car upgrade recommendations? Wheels are 14", non-alloy, and tyres are Hankook Eco Kinergy, they seemed to fair quite well on road noise, but it's noisy all the same. Thanks a lot for the help! G
  19. Hi everyone, I've been happily driving my 2013 titanium fiesta around for about a year and am looking into progressively making her look a bit sportier. One of the quickest ways to achieve a better look is by upgrading the alloys, and the sensible yet tame 14 inch alloys that came as standard with this car are on my list of things to upgrade. I looked into getting OEM alloy wheels, but the prices are outrageous... it would cost me around £800 to get four wheels! And yet, some much more attractive aftermarket wheels are available for less than half the price. The question I want to know is, does buying aftermarket wheels dramatically affect resale? Would I find it very difficult to sell the car with non 'Ford' alloys? Theoretically I could just hang on to the old 14 inch ones until I wanted to sell, but it would be nice to just flog them. Is there a major reason why Ford wheels are so much more expensive? Have any of you guys/girls bought aftermarket alloy wheels and regretted it? Thanks in advance for your help and advice.
  20. Hi Everyone, This is the first time ive ever particiated in any kind of Forums however i really want to make my Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec Auto 57 plate look as cool as possible without breaking the bank to do it. i have been so inspired by some of the topics ive read and as a kid have asked for advise. So i ask for as many advise and information on turning a standard interior, looking classy. So far i have managed to chnage the trims of the sterring wheel only because the standard silver was worn out and for £9.99 these are perfect. This post in particular was so inspiring http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/43265-radio-upgrade-on-a-mk2-focus-finally-finished/ thanks to Stoney and http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/43815-show-us-your-aftermarketupgraded-headunits/ thanks Mike for the reply. Now i want to change the following from the below standards (inspired by the above) Now for the above i need info on parts, Stoney has provided a guide to install a Factory Sony 2008 (i think) system into the car. however i need to find out where i can get the tools from or the carbon effect or unless i wrap it how do i do it? like shown in Mike's Pic http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/43815-show-us-your-aftermarketupgraded-headunits/ finally the below pic, am little confused as my Cigg lighter doesnt have a flap as shown in Mike's pic http://www.fordownersclub.com/forums/topic/43815-show-us-your-aftermarketupgraded-headunits/. Is this something i can add/install? and can you tell me what they are called plz so guys, you know what the plan is now i need you all to help with guidance and ref to make it possible. O yes before i forget, my rear speakers have busted and i dont have a clue what to replace them with... Ive read many articles however it doesnt say what size are the correct ones and or if any other sizes can be installed without any hassle. So guys your help on the above will be much appreciated and i wait in exitment on your response. As you may have gathered ive never done anything like this before, always a first hey :) :D
  21. I want to change the headlight assembly on my Focus Zetec S Mk3 and like the look of the Focus ST Mk3 headlights. Can I just buy the ST headlight assembly and swap them for my headlights without any modification required? Will they fit? Any one done this or know if I can do this?
  22. I really want to improve the overall sound quality in my current Ford Fiesta 14 plate but not sure what's the best way to do it? Can I buy certain upgrade kits? Should I just buy new speakers and a sub or do I need to replace the stereo as well? Can't seem to find an awful lot online but maybe I'm looking for the wrong thing... any help is appreciated guys! 👊🏻
  23. Hi All, Made two projects/builds on here before, nothing dramatic. Always wanted an ST and decided to get one as my insurance changed over at the end of January this year. Shoutout to TrustFord in Enfield for this! Was looking at trading in my Titanium for a new ST, then remembered the price difference. I then picked "STallone" up for 13K with all the discounts and haggles etc taken down, only 8 months old! Comes with all the gadgets I had on the titanium, which I was used to (Auto lights, auto wipers etc.) but the heated seats etc. added to this just top it off! And then comes the power.. the torque it has is ridiculous, if you are in a position to get one of these, honestly.. just go for it. You won't be disappointed. List of things/idea's that I will/might be doing: Lighting: - Upgrade interior bulbs to LED, Courtesy (W5W & Festoon), Footwells (W5W), Boot (W5W), Glove box. - Upgrade number plate lights to LED. - Upgrade reverse lights to CREE LED. - De-tango all exterior lights to chrome (Rear, Side, Headlights). - Upgrade dipped beam to 6K HIDs. - Upgrade front fogs to 6K LED. - Add additional rear fog light so there is two. - Retrofit/Black out front headlights, retrofit brighter 6K DRL LED. Security: - Move ODB2 port. - Remove ODB2 fuse. - Disklok. - Hardwire Dashcam to turn on with ignition. Exterior Styling: - Gel overlays, Front, Rear, ST badges, Wheel centre caps. - Blackout badges. - Smoke/Blackout/Tint Front headlights, Rear lights, Rear fogs/reflectors. - Black sunstrip. - Headlight brows. Bought cheap ones from eBay, need to replace with Triple R. - Spoiler Mountune spoiler extensions or RS Style spoiler. - Front splitter &/or Front spoiler extensions, or RS Style front bumper. - Sideskirt splitters. - Blacked out alloys. - Blackout plastics (Fog inserts, rear valance, lower grill). - Wrap roof, front lip & wing mirrors black. - Wind deflectors. - Wing mirror deflectors. - Ford black dustcaps. - Private Numberplates Interior Styling: - Mats. - Overlay for steering wheel, front vents. - Black and white engine cover. - Matching footrest. - Fill hole behind handbrake. - Matching keyring and smartkey cover. - Black gearknob insert Performance: - Remap - Mountune to keep warranty or Revo Stage 1-3. - Induction kit. - White coolant hoses, White Ancillary hoses, White turbo hoses, White induction hose. - Mountune/Cobb rear engine mount. *Will be adding a few updates to this post*
  24. So, new year and new upgrade plans. Just wanted to hear the thoughts of anyone who has these in their cars: 1. Focal Performance PS165 2 New: Focal Performance PS165FX Is the new material in the FX worth the price bump from the PS165. I have no way of hearing them myself in person and I can only rely on reviews off the internet. So far, no decent review on the FX but it did win some awards, so it can't be half bad. Also, I found this off Ebay and was wondering if it would fit my MK2.5 even though it is meant for the MK2: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Focus-Mk2-Custom-Fit-MDF-10-Sub-Box-Subwoofer-Enclosure-Bass-/360623710681 Plan would be to get the sub enclosure and also get this JL Audio 10" sub to pair it up with: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JL-Audio-10w0v3-4-10-Inch-25cm-300-Watts-4-ohm-Car-Sub-Subwoofer-/181082630165?pt=UK_In_Car_Technology&hash=item2a295da815 Any suggestions regarding front speakers and 10" sub woofers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :)
  25. LCD upgrade advice

Hi, Guys! I like an advice. I just bought a colour screen 'ET7T-18B955-BA' to fit into a 2009 Ford Fiesta Titanium and it did not work. Could someone steer me in the right direction, please? Thanks!
