  1. I have been mulling over the idea of getting my Fiesta remapped for a while. I am aware that modifying the car would effect my current extended warranty on the vehicle. Given that it has been reliable, so far, it is something i do not want to risk. The question that i am in need of an answer for is: is there a possibility of adjusting the extended warranty cover taking into consideration a potential stage 1 remap? I currently have the Zetec Eco-boost (99bhp) model. Given the Zetec S Eco-boost has 125bhp should there really be much of a problem doing so?
  2. Hello, Go easy on me, it's my first post! I'm confused, frustrated and ill with the stress my car has caused me. I have a 2014 plate Ford S-Max Titanium, 2.0 TDCI. Purchased from a Ford Dealer at about 15 months old. It is still under warranty until April. It's been in a Ford garage since 16th Feb (11 days ago), after suddenly cutting out while driving the previous day and losing all power completely. It brought up a warning light saying "Service Now" or something along those lines, and apparently when they first got it in they were completely stumped as it was bringing up lots of different fault codes. As of about 4:50pm today, they STILL haven't been able to identify the exact problem. I know they haven't been consistently working on it, as they have had to contact Ford's Technical Department for assistance with it. They have said on more than one occasion that it is the turbo that isn't working, but they don't know why it's not working. I asked today if they can't just do something to get it going again, but he's said no. So at the minute, I am gathering my car is unfixable? Has this happened to anyone before? Specifically with a car still under warranty? At the minute I'm totally in limbo
  3. Warranty query?

Bought a 16 plate fiesta back in April, and at work yesterday I noticed that the driver skirt isn't holding as strong as the passenger side, looks like the glue or whatever is holding it flush isn't as strong in my opinion. Took it to my local Ford dealer after work today, and was told it wouldn't have left the garage like that, and the only thing I could do was to take it to a bodyshop at my own expense, as it wouldn't be covered under the warranty. I'm wanting some advice, as I havent done anything intentional to make this worse, it seems strange how it is only affecting one side of the car, and this is so minor, I believed Ford would look at it straight away, especially being under warranty! Attached pics of both sides, opinions welcome.
  4. Hi all, Bought a 16 plate Fiesta back in April, only had the car a month when someone pulled out into me on a roundabout, the damage was very very minor (luckily!) with the rear wheel taking the brunt of the hit, all been sorted through their insurance. However, it's now got me thinking of purchasing a dashcam, especially ones with parking modes, incase anyone hits my car and drives off! Halfords would hardwire one for £30 professionally, however would this affect my warranty? I'd need it hardwired to be able to use the parking mode, and it would also avoid cables etc. Any advice on this would be appreciated, also are Halfords recommended? Thanks.
  5. Hi I would really appreciate some advice from Galaxy owners please! We pick up our 62 reg Galaxy tomorrow morning. It's a 1.6 diesel titanium with 31k miles. It looks in great condition and was owned privately before by a registered disabled lady. The garage are trying to sell us a 3 year extended warranty. Having never owned a Ford before, it would be great to hear from people who have had a similar car and if they had any problems. Our gut instinct is that if anything would go wrong, it's likely to be after the 3 years is up, as we are using the car for our family and will only drive around 12k miles a year. All comment would be welcome, pros and cons please! thanks
  6. I bought a 1.5 TDCi fiesta 8 months ago, it is a 13 plate and still under the manufacturers warranty period. I drive motorways daily with a round trip of 40 miles roughly, and have done over 8-9k miles so far, last night the Engine cut-out on the motorway and couldnt be restarted the AA analysed it to be a DPF related issue, ive read up and im bricking it as it could run upto £2k to replace, im hoping its covered under manufacturers warranty. I was led to believe the self-cleaning would kick in and all would be dandy but it appears that it hasnt/no warning lights or signs to predict so. Its been driving fine, with just this one occurance, but im skint and really dont want to be paying this sort of money to get back on the road especially as I bought the car to get away from these sort of issues. Will it be covered under the manufacturers warranty? I know its not covered under the extended used car warranty which is due to start in 2016 rolling onto the end of my manufacturers term. Any help apreciated. Thanks.
  7. I bought a new Fiesta this year. Due to the potholes in my area I wanted 15" wheels with higher profile tyres but these were unavailable for the trim level I had chosen. So my car has 195/50 R16 as standard. I recently decided to get winter tyres and got them on new wheels so I could easily swap them myself depending on the weather. I got these as 195/55 R15. The difference in diameter and circumference between original fitment and the replacements being less than 0.1%. These are also standard fitment on other trim levels of the Fiesta. Sadly I overlooked the very clever Tyre Pressure Monitoring System. It is baffled by the circumference change in all 4 wheels and resetting it doesn't help. It says it needs a service. I haven't been to the dealer to see what can be done as I am worried they will say the Warranty is now invalid due to me changing the wheels. Does anyone know where I stand on this? I assume the TPMS can be told that the car now has 15" wheels rather than 16" wheels and this will resolve the errors, does any engineer know if this is a setting which can be changed on the TPMS system?I know most people will think I am mad going for higher profile tyres but I have had to replace 3 alloys in the past 2 years due to potholes and I can no longer afford to keep doing this, I assume higher profile tyres offer more protection to the wheels. I regret the change now but it is too late, I have done the deed. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  8. I have a 12 plate focus thats done 50,000 miles. Last full service was in the summer. Is it normal for the gearbox to be whining and will it still be under warranty?
  9. Warranty Questions??

Was just in the black wheels topic and Blue asked if you get wheels refurbished or changed colour of your alloys would this void the warranty? Also what about changing colour of brake calipers ? Also I'm planning on lowering my car using same kit as Ford would this void mines? Thanks in advanced
  10. Service Advice

Hi all, My beloved S1600 is coming to the end of its 3 year warranty period and has only had 1 service since it was registered. It's now due a second service at 19,200 miles. What i'm asking is, do i have the service done at ford or could i go elsewhere?
  11. New Fiesta 1.6 Tdci Owner

Hi all Today I put a deposit down (only £100) on a 2010 Fiesta 1.6 TDCI Zetec with 39k miles on the clock with FFSH. I have a few questions following my test drive and general looking over the car that I wanted to see if anyone could help me with. - The car has a DPF ( I had thought it hadn't) but have been since told it has the non-fluid version which is better than other option? What issues does the dpf cause with this engine? anything to look out for? - Possibly linked to the above I had a friend who works in Ford dealership check the reg and it came back with 2 warranty cards issued to it in Jan 2013 for ECU recalibration as it wasn't running right? The work was noted as completed but slightly worries me as also noted that for it's first MOT in July 2013 it had 37k miles on it so since then only done 2k miles.... - Turbo lag changing gear, noticed this on test drive and did some immediate research which seems to suggest it is common on these? also that a ecu upgrade from Ford has addressed this and also blocking off the egr valve improves this? Can comes with 'comprehensive' (we will see) 12 month guarantee from dealer along with full service and a years MOT and Tax but now I've put deposit down I'm wanting to address concerns. Thanks in advance
  12. Mk3 Focus Leak

I've got a 61 plate 1.6 Titanium and just the other day when I went to start the car using the push button it strangely made the boot open. Tried it several times and every time the same. Took it to my local ford garage as they felt it was an electrical fault. On investigation they said that the wire at the rear of the car in the roof space had corroded and that there was a lot of water in there. So now they need to keep the car for a few days to find out where this water is coming from. Annoyingly they have said that because it is water damage it is no longer covered by the warranty!! Seems ridiculous that a car that's 2 years old should have water getting in so surely it must be a build issue, the garage have said they would speak to ford and see if they can make a 'goodwill gesture'. Anyone got any advice as to where this water is coming from and whether I will be charged the earth for the work? Thanks
  13. Hid's Void Warranty?

So I went into my local for dealership to get a DTC code checked out (C401_64). They told me that my BCMI unit is damaged and will need replacing. It should be under warranty but they are telling me that because I have HID's in my warrenty is void. Has anyone else heard this rubbish before?
  14. S-Max Clutch

Help! This is our 2nd S-Max. First one (2007) had brake problems. Eventually repaired prior to general recall, and when we asked if it should be upgraded at recall we were told "No" even though it had been repaired with the original, presumably faulty part. Result: about 4 months later we suffered one of those 'extremes of temperature' that apparently caused the fault in the first place, and the brakes failed on one of the steepest hills in London, in the snow! That was 2008, and we traded it in for another make. 2011 comes along and we decide to give the S-Max another try. This one started with a clutch smell which we were told was 'normal'. A week later we had a breakdown caused by the computer. A month or so after that the boot started popping open of its own acord as we drove along. Last month theclutch wore out. 10 months old, 8000 miles on the clock. We have both been driving 20 years and neither of us has ever needed to replace a clutch, despite owning cars for up to 8 years and about 100K miles. Ford Warranty says it's all down to our poor driving and 'wear and tear'. Now in the 3rd week of the new school year and the car has been at the garage since the last week of the holidays. No courtesy car. Latest news is that Ford have run out of the necessary parts. And they still deny there's a problem. What can we do?

  16. Fiesta Door Seals

I have a 2011 Ford Fiesta Edge 1.25. It's a pretty straightforward car, as a 20 year old I saw this at a discounted price and snapped it up! Runs like a dream compared to my 04 Seat Ibiza SX, much more reliable and comfortable too. Only problem I have noticed so far is the door seals seem to be coming away on both the driver and passenger doors, is this a warranty issue? Is it quite regular to have these kinds of problems?
