jnc90
Just signed up looking for some advice and tips! I don't own a Fiesta myself (got a 1.9 Ibiza FR TDI) but me and one of my mates are working on a project car which is a 1995 Fiesta Azura 1.1 which was picked up from a friend for £100 (RS trubo rep) My mate is a mechanic so the car has been fixed and back in working order (new valve and head gasket, only cost £20) but the we're planning to drop a 1600 8V Xr2 engine into it! So we're looking for a suitable engine to drop into it but struggling to find a 1600 8V engine at all tbh! Be great if you guys could point me in the direction of one? Thanks in advance! Josh! FMC
You just want to find yourself ANY 1.6 "CVH" Ford engine ;) The only difference on an XR2 was the use of a twin-choke carburretor and different exhaust manifold which gave it the extra oomph :) Cam profile was also different and will vary depending on which model it was originally fitted to, but you'll probably want to bin the standard cam and fit a modified one anyway (try a Kent or Piper CVH cam - loads of different types depending what sort of power you're after) The CVH was used throughout the Ford range in the 80s and 90s. It was fitted to the MkII Fiesta XR2, MkIII Fiesta 1.6Sport, MkIV, V and VI Escort and Orion (various models) and even the Sierra. The Escort RS Turbo also used a 1.6 CVH but they had a different bottom end. Good luck hunting for one - try a specialist Ford breaker to get a good one - but most scrappies will surely have one or two lying around ;) Very easy engine to work on and easy (and cheap) to tune. But there's a myriad of different ways to wring more power out of them, it's just a matter of how much money you want to spend and what sort of power you want to get from it Good luck :D
