remote central locking was an option as was almost everything on the mondeo so it would appear you dont have remote central locking but you may have key operated central locking if you only got one key then you dont have it

if u look under the dash on the drivers side after removing the bit of carpet u will see a big flat box. this is the central locking control unit. if u put ure finger on it and feel it click when u lock the drivers door from the inside u can make sure. there are 3 or 4 wiring plugs plugged into it. if u see a single what appears to be a wire that is not connected to anything then, this is the aerial for the remote.

if this is the case then u need to decide whether it is infra red or radio signal remote.infra red systems have a reciever in the drivers door handle, but if there are no units in the handle showing from the outside of the car, then ure system is radio controlled. for infra red u can buy a remote and google for the programming procedure. for radio controlled u can again purchase a remote then unplug the power wire from the central locking unit for about an hour and then plug it in and operate the remote until it operates the central lockin.

N.B. u will always have to use ure current key to start the car as there is a glass tube in the key that operates the immobiliser so that u can start the engine!
