Ford To Reduce Fiesta List Prices By£2100

Ford are to reduce fiesta list prices by £2100 from March 31 when the new price list comes out.

We will have to wait and see the effect on actual prices as most current offers are list price less about £2000.

Seeing as I didn't have a car to scrap that's a bit of a kick in the teeth. With the 2k off the list I wouldn't have saved much from the new estimated price at all with the deal I got.

The Idea is to drop the RRP but also drop the amount of discount the dealer can give. So if you bought a car and got like £2500 off and the price drops by £2000 the dealer might now only have £500 to play with. Means less ability to haggle lots and lots off just like other manufactures who dont offer much discount because there RRP is low

Hopefully so, then it won't affect our resale values too much.

If Ford are trying to move slightly more into the premium sector (which it looks like they are) then that's the kind of thing they need to do. Massive discounts from list are for the cheapo brands, I'd never expect a huge discount off an VW/Audi - you'd expect them to be sensibly priced in the first place.

Also the new models coming out will have a strong push on the new Powershift gearbox and over the next year or so they will role the powershift down to Fiesta and even Ka. Hinting once again at premium brand as most VW / Audi etc that are sold are in more than often some kind of auto box.

I got over 3k off of our Fiesta Titanium + scrappage discount (on an old shed I was going to scrap anyway this year) + £450 towards my deposit and then 4.95% APR. Madness? What a way to sell cars? I know the dealer well, so I was told about the discounts etc when I told my mate there we were looking for a small car.

I guess deals like that will just go and be replaced by sensible list prices. High list prices/big discounts are all very well - but anyone glancing at the price list will keep away from the showrooms unless they are aware of the deals - and company car drivers will steer clear as they are taxed on the list price.

After working at Ford dealers for some 18 years I now work at an Audi Centre, I have to say the 'deals' are a lot more transparent and consistent than ever they were at Ford (the marketing programmes were hard enough for staff to fathom - what chance do the customers have?). With Audi there is a sensible list price, (A3 is cheaper than Focus at list price in most cases???), a margin and the occasional minor spec upgrade and sometimes a funding offer! Much beter for customer satisfaction - customers are seldom left feeling they should have waited/done something earlier.

Was tempted to wait for the A1 as it kicks off at 13k - but it's only a 3 door till next year and OH likes the Fiesta!

PowerShift is an automatic, or rather a twin clutch automated manual. It's Ford/Getrags version of the VW DSG. It does not suffer from the problems you get on automated manuals on Ferarris, Astons etc which have Clarkson cursing flappy paddles.

Oh right ok cheers. Makes no ends to me anyway, I can change gear faster than any DSG 'box can manage it.
