PETROL PRICES - PLEASE READ AND JOIN!!!

We are hitting 114.9 a litre in some areas now, soon we will be faced with paying 1.50 a ltr. How about this offered as a good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the 'don't buy petrol on a certain day campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to hurt ourselves by refusing to buy petrol. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT,whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a litre is CHEAP, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the market place not sellers. With the price of petrol going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of petrol come down is if we hit someone in the pocket by not purchasing their Petrol! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year DON'T purchase ANY petrol from the two biggest oil companies (which now are one), ESSO and BP.

If they are not selling any petrol, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact we need to reach literally millions of Esso and BP petrol buyers. It's really simple to do!!

Now, don't wimp out at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to a lot of people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) ... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it... ..

THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!!

Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all.(and not buy at ESSO/BP) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8days!!! Acting together we can make a difference . If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE 90p a LITRE RANGE

It's easy to make this happen. Just join this group and get all your FB friends to join or forward as an email to everyone in your address book, and buy your petrol at Shell, Asda,Tesco, Sainsburys, Morrisons Jet etc. i.e.. boycott BP and Esso

I cant see that ever happening

it will end up just a few people doing it and making no difference.

plan b is accept they have us bent over a barrell with our hands tied behind our backs pants at our ankles with a giant oil company rep with a huge petrol pump up our backsides shafting us at every turn and the government said there are no oil cartels lol even a blind man could see there is oil is half the price per barell as it was in 2008 when prices rose this much so go figure truth is till we design a car that runs on youre own urine and waste were royally screwed

Still 114.9 here.

And still cheaper than public transport, so not really going to moan to be honest :P

114.9 here also.

Makes me consider not going on the aimless drives and certainly drops the speed down to about 60 on motorway journeys

Same here 114.9 but i drove past my local petrol station yesterday and they were messing around with the price sign so brace myself the next time i go because the last time they done that the petrol price went through the roof. Supermarkets petrol tend to be cheaper but iam not to keen on asda, tesco etc petrol because it does not seem to last long than Shell.

I am slightly lucky here in that there is a Shell, BP, Esso, Asda, Sainsburys all within 3 miles of each other, so they do tend todo a bit of competing :D

yeah and have you noticed the Shell is cheaper than most of them i only use Shell so no matter what ill be paying there price which is 1.15 per litre yet the bp 5 yards up is 1.17 per litre asda 1.16 per litre as da i grudge the fuels cheap any way so theyre making a killing

Shell is what i also use, although the "Points Card" seems pretty rubbish

If you do lots of miles and get their bonuses on fill-ups, you get some decent vouchers through. I've had a good few £7 vouchers come through the post in the past!

Just a shame the airmiles scheme is so rubbish now. My father used to get a couple of weekends away each year using the airmiles from Shell fill-ups.

same thing is happening here its 1.30 euro though but are expecting a hugh hike fairly soon all tax and its just going in governments pocket. Same with the road tax... I pay nearly 700 euro a year for the focus and thats going up too. Well the money isnt being put into the maintenance of the roads cause where my parents live theres craters for 6 miles...

And for those who want to know what that is in feet and inches, here's an excellent currency calculator to add to your favourites, or in my case Firefox toolbar.

I put £35 in the other day and only got 30L. It makes me feel cheated, since although im 17 i can remember the days of 80p a litre and the riots/strikes etc that happened when it reached a £1. Now no one seems to care.

Its expensive but what can we do. On the basis of it it sounds a good idea but, Because, correct me if im wrong the smaller suppliers buy the fuel from BP and ESSO dont they?

It's a minimum of £1.31 here, and meant to be going up another 2p next week  It all comes from the same supplier so no competition for prices either. Bit of a bugger having one of Europe's biggest oil terminals exporting oil, then us buying it back as some of the dearest fuel  :(

WEE HAVE A WINNER the cheapest i can get is 121.9 what a con the local garage is after 125.9 and the bp down the road wants 122.9 and there are no other petrol stations for miless around so ur stuffed to choose between the two but then again id NEVER put petrol in my baby from the scabby local garage lol.

In summary fellas, were shafted

OOOOHH and yeah my tax went up from 125 to 150 aswell where as my dads 3.0 mondeo costs 215 an extra 65 quid for 1400cc's more and 2 more cylinders love this country i really really do

  • 1 month later...

glad i got my ford a few months ago, im spending 57.9p per litre on LPG :D

unfortunately the car doesn't start on LPG as it needs to be a certain temperature before it kicks over to LPG so still needs to be run on petrol. so £5 a week spend on petrol. 2 weeks if i sit stationary till the engine heats up enough for LPG to kick in.

i found an old fuel receipt in the car from the previous owner it was dated November 2009 and the price of LPG then was around 47.9p per litre so im starting to get worried that LPG will be nearly as expensive as unleaded and diesel within the year :(
