hi need help got a problem with my ford focus petrol its overheating, have bled the sytem as was making a swooshing sound through heater matrix inside car,fan cuts in when hot, radiator hot all over ,heater blows hot air ok ,all pipes hot, water in expansion tank staying level not fluctuating so no air,has two fans as has air con, temp goes straight into red when under load ie above 50 or up hills ,when heater is on hot and blower turned on to full temp returns to normal, fan can be heard to be cutting in seems on higher speed also but temp still rises as soon as driven for short distance but ok at idle, replaced reostat on engine cooling fan,so need some help please sean.
ide start with the cheapest first and replace the expansion tank cap if that fails and as you say all the pipes are hot then ide be getting a sniff test done at a local garage is the coolant going into the expansion tank with the car idling the temp should get to around 90 92 then you should see flow into the tank if its flowing and all the pipes including bottom rad pipe are hot then its likely to be the water pump
