i was thinking could it be a possibility if i could take the surround off and spray paint it or something like that rather than use a vinyl sheet to make it black or pink etc etc, what ever takes my fancy... the silver look at the minute i think could be better in a darker colour like

It is possible to paint it rather than putting a vinyl on it. i thought of painting my console also when i dismantled everything before doing the vinyl, but then i decided i'll just stick to the vinyl thing so that it will be more easier for me if ever i decided to put it back to original color or maybe even changing to another color or appearance. and i also thought that putting a vinyl will not only restore the original color but will also protect it from scratches and everything. because if you're gonna paint something, you're gonna have to sand it well first for the paint to stick very well. i just don't wanna damage my console.

by the way the original color of my console was black. i think it's because of the trim option that i have which is the lowest trim, ambient.

quite easy actually, vinyls are flexible especially when heated. you can use an ordinary hair dryer to heat and expand it.

try to do some research on how to stick vinyls on dashboards or cars.. its better than sanding it or painting it doncha think?
