wendle10
Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could help with a problem we have on my partners Sport Ka. The other morning at 4am the alarm kept going off. We just opened & locked it thinking a cat must have jumped on it etc. But when my partner cam home from work that day, every time she locked it the alarm went off. I've checked the bonnet switch, the two door contacts & also the boot catch. All seem to be in working order. At present we've just taken the fuse out so as not to get on the wrong side of our neighbours. Does anyone have any ideas why it would suddenly do this? vinnyvangough
Hi and welcome to FOC. I had a problem like this on my escort van, it was an aftermarket alarm and i found that it had got wet and some water was sitting inside it, dryed it out and all worked fine. mintalkin
i dont know if ka's suffer the same as other models ,on the mondeo and focus the most likley suspect is the bonnett switch try disconnecting it and see if this cures your problem
wendle10
Thanks for your replies guys. I tried the bonnet switch 1st. I checked it with an electrical tester & also disconnected it but the same happens. It sounds like the siren is mounted somewhere near the rear underneath the car. I shall have to have a look when the weathers brighter. If all fails i might just beat it with a hammer until it wails no more!

Omendata
The fault is nearly always with the softtop hood switch in the boot - it goes faulty. I will bet in this nice weather the problems started when you had the hood down for the nice weather , then put the hood back up and the problems started? Open her up and give the hood a good slam dunk that will probably stop it until you get a new part and it might also tell you if it is the hood switch. Not very scientific but thats how I diagnosed mine after testing everything electrically. Intermittent faults are a engineer/techies worst nightmare. Thats how it was with all my alarm issues - switch tests ok but its an intermittent fault as water can get into it and it needs replaced really - even the Ford garages have problems with this fault and find it hard to fix! Alarm is in boot - brass box drivers side near the rear light cluster.
