My father owns a 2.0 diesel Kuga which has recently developed a sort of high pitch hum which is starting to annoy both of us. It is audible from both inside and outside of the car (although at greater volume outside). I was wondering if it could be the fuel pump, as it has that sort of tone to it, or even perhaps the power steering. Has anyone else experienced a similar noise, and if so was it an issue?
Cheers

there is a known issue relating to accessory drive belt noise described by ford as "metalic..sometimes high pitched noise from engine area" the cause is a missaligned drive belt and the repair is to fit a dowel in engine block along with a new belt. speak to dealer they may do a free repair as goodwill/warranty. if they say they dont know what your on about let me know and i will send you info on bulletin, regards steve
