Received my sunglasses holder today.

Does not come with the black plastic cover and tabs for the sunglasses part.

In the picture the seller shows one with the 4 tabs showing and the cover for the sunglasses holder.

Can i pursue him

I would, otherwise it's as useful as a chocolate tea pot! Was it eBay, if so what was the item number?

I bought the same one as you and received mine today also, it has two metal clips but no black fixings. I will be contacting the seller.

Hi Jamie,

the old phrase measure twice cut once comes to mind for this job :)

My post above (24) gives some dimensions as to the hole size and a way to go about it. The rear of the holder, that black part needs to be taken off the holder; it's just held on by 4 tabs. When you have the hole cut do a trial fit with the holder (minus the black thing) just to make sure the hole is big enough ...... remember better to be too small to start off with.

Once you are happy with the hole, place the black part into the rear of the hole you have cut in the roof lining, at the rear, offer up the holder to the front of the hole and slide it in place. Be careful here, I found that the headlining is thicker than the gap between the holder and the metal spring clips and if you are not gentle and careful with it you may pucker-up the front of the headlining.

Once the front is in just lever the rear up to mate with the already placed black part and get them to click together ...... job done? Cables onto light fitting and light fitting back in place.

Jim

I've ended up buying one but have decided not to use it (chickened out). Don't fancy messing up the roof lining or worse finding that I don't like it once fitted.

So if someone now wants to buy mine off me........

For everyone wanting pics

here you go...

Bought this off eBay for £9.99

Don't have any decent scrappys near me

IMG_1107.jpg

Prise light out.. Spring catch at the front keeps it in

IMG_1112.jpg

Unplug light.. Unscrew 2 torx screws

IMG_1113.jpg

Pull out original trim.. Back to front

IMG_1116.jpg

Mark out the size of the new hole.. Measure twice and cut once lol

IMG_1117.jpg

Cut out the new hole.. I used a stanley knife.. Ensure blade is sharp

And remove metal surround

IMG_1118.jpg

The black part on the back of the sunglasses holder unclips off the grey part

Remove the black part.. 4 clips.. And put this in roof lining

IMG_1119.jpg

Plug microphone back in.. If you have one

Make sure wires for light are accessible

Clip in new trim.. Clip front in then back

IMG_1120.jpg

Plug light back in and replace

Insert sunglasses

Sit back and appreciate

Hi,

tried to do this on my ford focus st 08 model. I managed to cut the rood lining and inserted the black part of the holder. Also managed to clip the first 2 clips of the sunglasses holder. Sadly there is no way to attach the rear clips since the roof lining is extremely thick. I literally had to use self tapping screws.

I am willing to buy another one and try it out again since the screws aren't my favorite part of the interior fascia now.

Any idea please?

thanks!
