ashrobinson
Unfortunately my car was a used one (6 month old demo car) Zetec-s Mk7. It didnt come with usb or bluetooth, so I want to add my own bluetooth Unit. The retro fit thread looked a bit complicated for my liking!! I've been looking at Third party bluetooth kits, ive used parrot ones before so know they work pretty well. I have an iPhone 3GS, and they seem to be compatible. question is has anybody done this and what does it look like? (and where do you put it?!) Any pics would be greatly received. Lenny
Ok mate since you have an iPhone and also don’t have a usb port id recommend the Parrot MKi9100 top of the range piece of kit that is designed for the iPhone and can play all your music through your existing stereo via bluetooth, the setup is very simple all you need is the Parrot ISO adaptor for ford fiesta MK7 Click here , unplug the connector going in to the back of your stock stereo, then plug that cable in to the Parrot adaptor (Ford –Parrot Adaptor) then take the other end of that and plug it in to the back of the stereo, thus filtering the line between the stereo and the Speakers, the other end of this cable plugs in to the blue control box, run the rest of the system around the car i.e. Mic, and display unit to desired locations then plug in to the blue box as well, the only cable you will need to wire is the positive and negative to the ignition, to give you more of an idea ive added a picture of the 3100 kit so you can see all the components. No prob happy to help, and yeah I think you can flush mount it or put it on various little brackets, also recommend stressing to the fitter how you want it done, as they can have some crazy ideas on where they install the components ive heard some horror storys , £100 seems very expensive for installation 30minutes work, try Halfords the installed my ma's parrot kit for 25euro but you need to purchase your kit there to qualify and they can be pricy. on the flip side though you can watch them installing it and see its done exactly as you want it to be. post pic when you get it installed, i would like to see B)
ashrobinson
not 100% sure i want Halfords to fit it, generally theyre not very good, i dont know what peoples experience of them are, but a mk7 is quite complicated with the dash etc. Here in the uk they are nicknamed 'Halfrauds' :\ Will post some pics when its done, will be enquiring over next couple of days.
