pclarke82
hiya guys, yesterday i brought a 03 1.6 zetec focus (im assuming that is mk1? im not sure) i brought it from a garage and when i did the deal after he said "oh i forgot to mention the CD player doesnt work" obviously i wasnt happy so he changed it with one from another ford, its a 6000 cd player double din standard ford. Problem is now the steering controls dont work. I have took the player out and on the back of the player i have 3 sockets, and coming from the car i have three blocks. the first and third are connected obviously making the cd player work but the middle block is left empty and hanging in the car and its ever so slighty the wrong shape so wont fit in. is this the steering controls? how can i get it to fit? or where do i get an adapter from? any help would be much apprieciated. thanks again. ps, is it possible to fit AC into a non AC focus? R u sure it wont fit?? i baught a 6000 cd player and fitted it myself and its all fine. All 3 should be plugged in the back. The middle connector thats not connected is awkward to put in and take out compared to the other two. I think it has a catch on the side? If it wont go in then the pins might be bent. try this demo video on youtube if it helps to see where they go in. My link

My link the problem is that each side of the middle connector is a little groove to make sure the wrong connecter isnt put in, and the 2 grooves dont fit the 2 grooves that are in the stereo. the block itself is the right size, its just the grooves wont allow it to slide in

artscot79
its 100 miles away so not really viable im afraid well the cenbtre plug usually always fits all ford stereos im unsure as to what was already in the car it could be an aftermarket plug that was put on to fit an aftermarket unit and hence why it no longer fits just a guess but if it definately doesnt fit then you can get the lead from autoleads.co.uk or from ford or alternatively a scrap yard just remove the controls with lead connected and change or do without the controls i dont have them did ion my old vw and to be honest dont miss them either

dezwez
if i get a plug out a mondeo, how will i know how to re wire it in and what cables go where? only three wires but you would need the wiring dirgram from the mondeo and wiring dirgram from the focus then work it out with pin on the back of the radio try a audio shop see if they can help :)
