reubmeg
Hi, I recently bought a second hand 2004 MK5. The aircon was working fine till a couple of days ago, and now it only works at high revs. I looked into it and found a suggestion to clean the cabin filter. I checked and the filter is missing, I'm guessing removed by the previous owner or the (unscrupulous) dealer maybe to get rid of a smokey smell? Anyway, does anyone have any idea what I will now have to do to get the aircon working again? I assume the lack of filter has caused a build up of dirt somewhere but how can I clean it out? Cheers! reubmeg
the blower fan works fine, and I can hear the click of the compressor engaging when I press the A/C button, and another click of it disengaging when I press it again. When I rev to about 2500 rpm or more, it blows cold air (but not as cold as it used to be), otherwise it's just as if I have the A/C off and the fan on. reubmeg
I've established that the compressor is going to need replacing. The car is a 2004 1.4 Duratec with the semi auto gearbox, can anyone tell me if the following part will fit?: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/140405528998 Cheers! james_60
Hello If you are able to get the part number from your existing compressor it will save a lot of time searching for a needle in a haystack. Having the part number should mean you will get the exact one you need. Once the compressor has been changed it will need a full regas etc and it needs to be done properly to make sure all the moisture is taken out etc. Jamie
