Hi, I wonder if you can help

My g/f's Y reg fiesta's enging warning light came on yesterday. I have driven it myself and the clutch seems to be jittering when pulling away and feels like it is going to lose the biting point and stall. I have phoned up ford who say they can diagnose it but for £70+ and I just think that is a joke tbh.

Can other garages diagnose an engine fault or does it have to be ford.

Also is there anything i can try before having to take it in for her to get sorted?

I think most garages can check fault codes

As said most garage's now will check fault codes.
