Raizak
Hey there Just thought I'd let everyone know that iOS 4.1 fixes the bluetooth issues with the Fiesta and presumably other Fords. It no longer auto plays when bluetooth is connected and he phone now also rings through the car :D I don't have a Y cable so am unsure whether it fixes the issues there also. Good news on the damage front also, going into the garage tomorrow for 2 days to be replaced :D Apologies for the bad formatting! Posting this from my iPhone right now. dannyhilton
I'll have to go check! Thanks for the heads up. I never had issues with my audio not ringing however?

Raizak
Yeah it's out this Wednesday. The Gold master was leaked online by a few developers and can be installed by anyone via iTunes 10 :D
dannyhilton
Just figured this out. For anyone running 4.1 you can now skip between tracks while streaming music through bluetooth! WOOT!
John21
Is streaming an iPhone 4 only feature? Or could this be done on my 3GS?
dannyhilton
My 3GS and 4 will stream. You will need iOS 4.1 to change tracks with your steering wheels controls while streaming however. But any version of iOS will stream via bluetooth providing you have bluetooth in your car :-)
John21
Hmmm I have 4.1 on my 3GS and no streaming options. Just contacts syncing. I have the ford y-cable anyways not too fussed.
Mark M.K
bluetooth audio never worked on early mk7 fiesta's. It came in middle of 2009. If your Fiesta is on a 58 plate or early 09 plate, you may not be able to play music via bluetooth.

prolix
Hi Mark M.K, Is there any way of updating the radio or BT to support BT audio streaming? Would this require a new stereo or BT module. My fiesta was manufactured in '08. I brought it to the garage and they have replaced the BT module with a newer one but it hasn't made any difference. sterghios
Same here, march 09 purchased, and I cannot stream. What other features does the new firmware have? I read at the faults thread of updated menus... Shouldn't this be included in the service if the firmware is upgraded?
ansari
My first post at this forum.. Bringing an old thread back to life. Do you know if it's possible to get the bluetooth audio stream through a firmware update or do they have to change the whole stereosystem? Inked
Mine is a 58 plate and I had the bluetooth audio firmware update done to my car when it became available from Ford, just booked it in with the dealer.
prolix
Hey all, Just an update with my BT iPhone 4 issues. Brought it to garage and they said there were no updates. Even rang Ford and they couldnt tell me if it would or wouldnt work for BT music streaming. So i brought it back to garage again and they had a different audio specialist in. When he checked first, there were no updates, but then he realised there was a software update for the computer they hook the car up to. He updated that, and hey presto, 3 updates for my car appeared. One for the BT module One for the radio One for the display screen So my advice to anyone with this issue is to go back to your garage and get them to check for updates. My car was built in Sept '08 so in theory that means even the early production run cars should be able to play music via BT. Good luck! mark t
Had 3G in my Late november 2008 from new fiesta, and had no problems, got a 4 and still no problems, upgraded car now, still no problems, rings every time!
Jac
Newbie here - hello everyone. I cannot get my iPhone to stream music via bluetooth. I had the BT firmware updated on the car last week and I am running the latest software on my iPhone. Before the update my phone thought it was playing music via BT but I couldn't hear it (hence visit to Ford for firmware update). Now my phone doesn't even think it is playing via BT so the update seems to have made things worse for me. No problems with phone functions via bluetooth. Anyone got any ideas of what I can do next to try and solve this? I do not have a usb port if that is relevant.
Ben...
Prolix. Do you have USB? Or just aux and voice control?
prolix
Hey Ben, Yes I do have the USB port in the car. But i don't see whether having the USB port should make a difference. Can you make a receive calls via BT? If so then your car should have the ability to receive streamed music. It really does seem to depend on how good the audio guy in your garage is. I had to take mine in 3 times for the issue to be sorted. The first two times i think all they did was connect their own phone to it and make a call. Im sure they thought i was stupid. They just didn't get what i was trying to explain to them. So it might be worth a try either speaking to their audio guy in person, or bringing it to another garage? Good luck! Jac
I've been reading the Apple forums and apparently OS4 broke the A2DP profile of bluetooth for many people and the latest update 4.2.1 didn't fix it. bluetooth has many profiles (wiki lists 28) and A2DP is needed for music streaming. There is a different profile for hands free - HFP - which is why we can use our phones to make calls but not stream music. However, this doesn't make sense when it is clear on this forum that some people can stream music through IOS 4.1 onwards. Guess I'll just have to wait for the next update from Apple to see if it solves my problem.
ansari
I had the firmware update done today and it didn't help. I got access to bluetooth audio but nothing happens. If I try to press the aux button several times, you should get the "radar" on your screen but NO. (I have the aux and usb) I know that it's not the phone because it works on my friends fiesta. Have any other clues? The salesman says that it should work and the mechanics thinks that it might be so that I don't have that option in my stereo. Just wanna check the obvious, does you Fiesta definitely have bluetooth? Does your phone find the car? If you go in the menu on stereo is their an option to bond your phone? Is there a blue light to the bottom right of screen?
Inked
May be worth pulling the fuse to reset the stereo, when I first got the car and had problems with the bluetooth (back in 08 before the software update for bt audio) pulling the fuse sorted it.
