freeman3030
For the past few months, I've been literally dying for a Mk7 Fiesta Titanium. I'd read any review going, watched video's on Youtube of it and was literally bursting at the seems to get one! Anyway, I saved and saved and finally had enough to get a second hand one. So I scoured AutoTrader and I found the one I wanted. I knew before I left that day that I was going to come home being the owner of a new car. I got there looked around it and instantly fell in love. The shape just looks soooooo good! But until that point, I hadn't actually been inside one, but when I hopped aboard... WOW! I felt instantly comfortable, everything felt really good to the touch and if things weren’t good enough, it also has Keyless Entry and the Ford POWER Start button! I was itching to take it out for a spin, so the guy got some plates and off we went. Now, I currently drive a 2004 MINI ONE Convertible and I didn't think it would be able to match it in terms of handling, but I was very impressed. I would go as far as saying it handles better than my MINI. That may be due to the MINI being 199Kg heavier. But still, I was thoroughly impressed. We struck a deal using my MINI as part exchange and they’re going to deliver my Fiesta on Thursday and take away my MINI the same day, so I drove home happy as Larry. We were literally 1 mile from home and I heard this metallic sound. When we got home my dad inspected the car and it was something to do with the gearbox or differential (please excuse my ignorance, I have no idea how cars actually work and what all the parts are – all I know is where the petrol goes!). Well to cut a long story short, it’s not going anywhere! I was scared of the deal falling through, so dad phoned the dealer when it opened on Monday and they’re absolutely fine with waiting until its fixed! Phew! I’m just itching for my new car though! So seeing as I can’t actually get it at the moment, I’m going to get ready for when it arrives. Does anyone know what playlist formats the Fiesta recognises? Also, what is the maximum memory capacity using USB? I’ve got a HTC Desire and that supports up to 32Gb, but I don’t want to get a 32Gb micro SD card if the fiesta can’t actually handle it. Roll on when I get it, I can’t wait :)

Roll on when I get it, I can’t wait :) Sorry to hear you had a problem so early with your new Fiesta. It sounds most unusual. Believe it or not, I am now on my second Mk 7 ! I bought a Titanium 1.6TDCi new one in March 2009 which was absolutely brilliant except for the fact that it was a manual gearbox and I prefer autos. I have now swapped it for a nearly new (it had only done 300 miles) Titanium 1.4 petrol auto box one which is very smooth and relaxing to drive, especially when using the cruise control. It's a great car to drive and the steering is even better on this petrol one, presumably because of the lighter petrol engine. I'm sure you won't be disappointed with yours. I don't know much about the audio stuff I'm afraid so I can't answer your question.
MrrNoName
im pretty sure it he ment his mini broke on the way back home from the garage before the fiesta was delivered? Congrats on your purchase dude :) the titanium is such a nice model! dont know about the stereo in it, sorry :P maybe post some pictures of it up when you get the car? Magenta
Yup, I understand now, the Mini had a problem, not the Fiesta. Makes more sense. Interesting that freeman says that the Fiesta handling is as good or even better than the Mini. I've only had a couple of test drives in a Mini and would agree. In addition, the Mini is much too harsh with none of the refinement that Ford have built into the the Fiesta.
freeman3030
Thanks Yeah, MrNoName got it right, I did mean about my MINI breaking on the way home from the dealer. It's really frustrating! I'm dying for my Fiesta, but have to overcome this hurdle first! Will most certainly get pics of the car up when I get it... it's really annoying because I have no idea how long its going to take to get my car repaired and also how long it will be before they release my new car! Ah well, these things are sent to test us. Will let you all know when I get my new wheels :D
AntonyJ
Does anyone know what playlist formats the Fiesta recognises? Also, what is the maximum memory capacity using USB? I’ve got a HTC Desire and that supports up to 32Gb, but I don’t want to get a 32Gb micro SD card if the fiesta can’t actually handle it. Good choice of car B) But really bad luck to have to fix your Mini before you can trade it in... The USB can be a bit fussy. I haven't had any problems, but there have been plenty of posts on here about it freezing or not recognising tracks, etc. I'd ask the dealer to make sure the software is up to date before you take delivery. The playlist is a standard .m3u format. If you want to choose playlists using voice control, you can only have 10 and they must be named "Ford1.m3u" to "Ford10.m3u". The same goes with folders. But you can have other playlists that you select using the controller. The size of drive shouldn't be a problem, but the system can only cope with 5000 folders and a max of 1000 tracks per folder. However the control system is a bit slow and fiddly, using the 4-way controller on the stereo to navigate the directory structure, so you don't want to have millions of tracks on there. I use a 8Gb stick, which is enough I think, and manage it using MediaMonkey (the free version) and LAME to encode to mp3 (256kbit VBR). The USB port is powered the whole time, which is handy for charging, but I'd choose a stick that doesn't have a LED that's permanently on advertising itself (mine is a Kingston DT mini). Also, check the Ford site to see if your phone is fully compatible.
freeman3030
Already checked the Ford site for phone compatibility, but mines not on there. I emailed Ford about 2 weeks ago... but still no reply! I didn't realize that you had to name the playlists specific names, so thats handy to know. I really cant wait to start playing around with it, its going to be brilliant! It really sucks having to spend all that money on it before trading it in (for someone else to benefit from it) but hey ho, these things happen I guess. Cheers for the info, I really appreciate it :)
james_60
Hi Dont rely on the ford website for up to date phone compatability as it is not updated that often. I rely on updates to the Radio etc for up to date compatability and bug fixes. Insist your new fiesta has its ecu/firmware and all software for the dashboard/radio and bluetooth updated prior to you taking it home and you may well find your phone now works. freeman3030
It's only just dawned on me. I never checked to make sure my Fiesta has bluetooth! It has the voice activation & the USB port, does bluetooth come part and parcel with that or is it a completely separate entity? If it doesn't have bluetooth, can something be fitted so it does? Cheers

Cheers Don't worry it has definately got the bluetooth otherwise you wouldnt have the voice activation and USB, I think it is standard on the Titanium but I aint too sure. I wish I had the bluetooth on mine, I hate the silly little Parrott system fitted, for some obscene reason the plant could not fit it otherwise I would have held my order back even further..... I wonder if I could get one from a written off titanium as it would need to control the electric folding mirrors?

Raynorfolk
I have recently bought a new titanium and use a USB (2GB) stick which I play in shuffle mode - which I don't need to specify each time I insert the stick. As you say the USB socket is powered the whole time so it is a bit of a nuisance to have to remember to remove the stick - otherwise you could end up with a flat battery. I am delighted with the car though.

Thought the audio system is supposed to switch off an hour after the key is removed from the ignition?

I too thought that the USB was powered all the time, but the little light on my USB stick goes out a minute or so after I locked the car, so I'm pretty sure that its not powered all the time. freeman3030
I have brilliant news... My MINI was fitted with its new gearbox today! I can't wait until tomorrow to phone the dealer and let them know! So hopefully within the next few days (once I've sorted the insurance) I'll take delivery of my new car, I'm so excited! Big smiles all round :D
Gazzaroon
Congrats on the new Fiesta and getting your mini repaired. I like you am looking at all the video's and reviews of the car as I am waiting to do a deal with my local dealer for two fiesta's. I drive a Civic at the moment but was really impressed with the handling of the Fiesta and thought that it matched the civic or was slightly better. Anyway, I test drove the car again on Friday and to see if the new iPhone 4 with latest update worked and it did with no problem. Looking forward to seeing the pictures when you get the Fiesta :)
freeman3030
Two Fiestas? Greedy! Which trim fiestas are you looking at getting? Titanium, Zetec etc? I love looking at videos of them. I'm deffo going to put a video up on Youtube when I've got mine because all the time I was researching about them, I wanted to watch whatever I could on the Fiesta Titanium! It's good to hear the iPhone 4 works fine. Ford seriously need to update their phone compatibility section of their website, I don't really see the point of them having it if it's not up to date! I can't wait to start playing around with all the toys on it, I've never owned a car with bluetooth or anything like keyless entry or voice control... it's going to be so fun! Roll on its arrival!
