jimbo55
Hello, new this week and had a fix already! I recently bought a 2000 Escort 55 D van which has 1. A fuel gauge which works in reverse, Full is Empty. Last owner told me this was just since he had a new tank fitted.Only one wire connected from sender although there are two there. 2. When starting from cold after preheating the speedo goes off the clock, the trip resets to zero and the analogue clock goes to 12 o'clock. Switch off and start again, no problems evident! 3. The temperature gauge reads normal after the expected time but the heater doesn't heat up. 4. A new timing belt nearly fitted but the injector pump belt tensioner tried my patience tonight so darkness beat me!!! Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Flushed heater matrix in both directions with hose, now working. 4. Don't cheat when fitting a timing belt, didn't remove rocker cover and set injector pump to cylinder 4 instead of cylinder 1! No mechanical damage but had to start from the beginning. Did I mention that injection pump tensioner *#"! ? Running fine now.

Whats the condition of the battery? when your trying to start the van, the starter is taking all the juice from the battery clearing everything else (resetting everything) also check all the battery connections and any earth wires you can find. Hope this helps.
