freeman3030
I've got a Mk7 Fiesta titanium. It is a fantastic car without a doubt, but I've encountered a couple of problem areas that really need sorting. * When Im listning to music I can hear a vibrating sound coming from the passengers door. The music doesn't have to be very loud, but it's annoying the hell out of me! Could something have worked loose or do they all suffer from this? * 9 times out of 10 when I put my seatbelt on it gets caught on part of the base of the seat and I have to fiddle around until it gets past the bit it gets stuck on... I can't help but think this is a major design flaw as if I hadn't realised this and were to have an accident, the seatbelt wouldn't function the way it's meant to as theres loads of slack onecs it gets past whatever it's getting stuck on * I have keyless entry (not sure if this is the same as standard remote central locking) but when I lock the car, the mirrors fold in and I then hear a whine from something in the drivers mirror :S God knows what it is, but it's !Removed! annoying! * On 3 door models with the tilt/slide seats, when you let someone out of the back, I pull the lever which folds the seat forward and I then pull the seat along the track so the person can get out of the back. To put that seat back, I slide it back along the track but have to re-pull the lever to put the seat back in place. Is this just my car being weird or are they all like this? I had a Mk6 Fiesta Zetec 2 cars ago and that didn't suffer from any of there problems, so I'm really concerned that the Mk7 does! Just want to find out if these are just problems with my car only, or infacts problems across the Mk7 range. Cheers, James

Its going in for its first service in the next week or so and I intend to ask them to investigate/repair. Its a problem that has been raised on here before. Early-1800
I have a Mk7 3Dr Titty, owned for a couple of months now. Never noticed any noise from door/speakers, but I don't have volume very high. Never noticed problem with seat belt but perhaps it depends on high/low you have the seat adjusted? Would be nice if belt height could be altered on the b-pillar like 90% of other cars.... Don't have keyless entry but mirrors do fold with a whirr, but noise stops when mirrors folded in (I think). Going to turn off this feature as don't park on busy narrow rounds most of the time and just know that the wires inside or the motors/gears will eventually start to play up. Yes the front seats lock in both positions. A couple of other things I've noticed is the massive blind spot left by the wipers on passenger side. There’s about 18 inch un-swept in the corner. Quite dangerous at junctions in rain or 1st thing in morning when screen is covered in condensation. These very sloped windscreens need clap-hands wipers like A-Class or most MPVs have. I have front and rear parking sensors and they are more of a distraction than a help. When manoeuvring two types of beeping in your ear’ole from kerbs, bushes, other cars miles away. You start to ignore the beeps.

Exact same thoughts re: seatbelt. I fix my belt, start to drive - no problem. As soon as I go round a corner / a roundabout, the belt slackens!! Yes I too wonder what would happen in an accident. I thought it was just me not fixing my belt properly. I might have the dealer take a look at this. Yes that's how the seats work. One thing that does annoy me though. The drivers seat has an auto function where it'll slide back to the original position. Great. But if you have a passenger in the rear, chances are they've entered the vehicle on the passenger side, and the passenger side doesn't have this auto retain position function. That's so weird. A design flaw or just cost cutting?
freeman3030
I've looked and the seat belt is catching on the lumber adjustment wheel... why didn't the designers put the where on the other side? Then this problem wouldn't exist! The wipers are really annoying, I've yet to drive in constant rain, but from what I've used of them so far I know exactly what you mean about the large area not cleared by the wipes... also it doesn't sweep right to to top of the screen which is annoying! These are things I didn't consider when I was looking at my car, but must raise awareness for others wanting to buy. I only have parking sensors on the rear and I find them a great help, I have just one gripe about them... their audible tone. It's more of a 'pong' than a 'beep'. This is quite annoying as my old mini cabrio had a very distinct beep and cut quite clearly through the music/radio... whereas the 'pong' on the fiesta can't be heard as clearly and have to turn the music right down to hear the sound. Ford really need to get their act together and sort out these quite simple minor problems... I start to wonder whether the did much 'real life testing' of the car! And they really need to update their website... their phone compatability section of their website seriously needs updating... no mention of compatability with iPhone 4 or any of the latest handsets. if they want to appeal to the younger market... they might want to get a bit more 'with it' Turned into a bit of a rant, but I just had to get that off my chest! Lol!
freeman3030
i forgot to mention... I might send a letter of complaint to Ford about the seatbelt because that problem seriously needs rectifying before someone gets seriously injured. The problem is though, once I start moaning, I can't stop! Lol! Perhaps it would take quite a few people to write complaints about the seatbelt issue... that way, they might do something about it. So if its happening to you, please complain. Cheers, James
boggyb68
I have a Tit and have noticed a bit of vibration from the passenger door area with the music on.. I turned it off and it still happens! Just a typical vibration noise in a car methinks.. Mirrors fold with a whirr, but jonly occasionally do I hear an extra whirr but it isn't from the mirrors, it seems to be at the base of the windscreen so could be the heating/climate system adjusting itself.. Seat belt issue doesn't happen for me. I have a 5 door so no tilt issues on the seats.. Yeah the wiper blind spot is annoying.. I always use the heated screen to clear moisutre but even then it doesnt really clear the edges.. the clamshell style wipers would be the perfect solution.. I also find sometimes the auto headlights really do have a mind of their own.. the most annoying is them not turning off, even when the car emerges from the dark wooded road on the way to work, into bright sunshine.. not the be and end all but a niggle nonetheles... Still love the car though.. B.
sparticus5
Just to update, my seatbelt issue cannot be related to the lumber support lever - my car doesn't have lumbar support. (not sure if any of the Zetec S models do?)

olly
I too suffered this hellish vibration while using the stereo: I have mentioned this elsewhere on the forum and I've copied it here.....hope this works for you..... Not at all technical, but... if you run your hand along the door pocket towards the back of the car you will come to the point where the door pocket meets the main door moulding, I found that the door pocket vibrates against the main moulding here: I cut a small felt pad (the type that you stick on the bottom of chair legs to protect a laminate floor)down to size and rammed it between the gap between the door pocket and door moulding which stopped the vibration. Whats the point of supplying decent audio if the car interior cant handle it....not a lot of testing went into this...methinks !!!!!

I have the same issues in my titanium. For the seatbelt i put some folded up duct tape in between the metal seatbelt bar and the plastic, its not ideal but stops the problem. I really haven't got a clue about to stop the high pitched squeak from the wing mirror, it is very annoying. Did you manage to fix it? I hate the seat mechanism. The car was in for a couple of days but it had other "issues"....when I booked it in for the other side to be replaced they asked me if I'd like to wait while it was done...no more than an hour and a half.
