Escort 1.3 1991. Starts on manual choke, runns a couple of miles easing choke in, then she runs badly can misfire slightly and will cut out at low revs! had the air cleaner off and checked the vacuum pipes, also checked the fuel cut off valve is working, put it back together and it will run fine again for several miles..then she getsropey and looses power again and will cut out on low revs... if you ease out the choke( even though the engine is now warm) you can improve its running enough to nurse it home again! Any ideas please!!

sounds like a fuel/air mix problem you could try some carb cleaner, but without seeing the car its hard to say
