£185.98 To Have My Car Washed

Just wanted to have a rant and see if anyone else has has problems like this. Getting past the fact i've just been completely ripped off by going to Ford the only major change on the cars service was the oil. I probably could have licked the car cleaner than the job they've done on cleaning it too. What i'm more annoyed about is i had my left door speaker rattling a lot when music was played and not necessarily high volume. After adding a sub to my car a few weeks ago (Pioneer TSWX77A) the problem is still there even after turning all the bass down on the main speakers so i've just assumed its a loose screw or something not on tight enough, it wasn't enough of a problem to go to Ford with just for that so i've waited till my service . Ford now say that because i have added this sub in the boot all the speakers are now void form warranty. The girl at reception didn't know what a sub was and when i consulted a parts man he stared at me blankly because he didnt really know what i was telling him either. My argument is that the speakers are not altered in any way when a sub is added and. Im generally not someone who would comment on here but I'd just like to see peoples thoughts on this.

If you complained about the loose speaker before the sub was fitted that proves its not the sub just show him the receipt of purchase.

Thats my problem i have no proof that i had the problem before my sub was fitted. If they say they wont do anything about it if i argue again il just take the door card of myself, its just the principle that they are unwilling to take a look at a speaker that would take 15 minutes to check immediately after giving them a large amount of money for something i really could have done myself

Same old rubbish from Ford dealers im afraid. I decided to find the exact source of the rattle in the doors by myself. It is coming from the ten or so circular clips holding the front door panels on. I found the problem could only be fixed if you damp them with an elastic band / silicone sealant etc

I got my rear bumper resprayed at Ford and they didnt even wash the car...!?

Really disappointed. Its worrying when you go into talk to them about the problem and you realise you know more about it than the specialists. Yeah i will most likely take a look myself and while im at it put some different speakers in too

They're only trained to work on the car as it comes from the factory, so unless they have experience from elsewhere, they won't know how to work on aftermarket accessories. Though that sub is offered in the Ford catalogue, so if you'd got the dealer to fit it (I assume you did it yourself) they'd have to then support it and not try to fob you off.

I think expecting a receptionist to have a clue about anything technical is maybe hoping for too much. :rolleyes: You should have asked to speak to the service/workshop manager.

As the other poster said, the problem in the doors is the card vibrating against the inner shield. When I replaced my speakers, I installed sound absorbing foam on the backs of the cards, which also makes them a tighter fit. No rattles for me. B) I'd agree that there really should be some foam there from the factory given the number of mentions it gets on here.

Oh, and service costs are expensive but they should do a bit more than just change the oil, and you should have got a year's free roadside cover included (not that you should need it of course). And many people on here (me included) would prefer that they don't wash the car at all - they're unlikely to take as much care of the bodywork as you would.

Our 2yr old Focus goes for a service next week. Most Ford dealers were asking between £139 - £160. One Ford dealer said either £202 or £99! OK then what's the difference? Well, he said, the £202 includes the scheduled service, car wash and recommended 2yr brake fluid change, the £99 Value service includes 1yr breakdown assistance, but doesn't include a car wash, the brake fluid change nor the recommended pollen filter change.

Given that I specifically request garages never wash my car and that I never have brake fluid changed at 2yrs the £99 value service offer is ideal. And if I feel the pollen filter needs changing (don't think so but I'll take a look) I can buy one off the web for £10 and fit it myself in less than 5 mins.

Ford says this Value service is designed for cars over 4 years old but it doesn't say you can't request it for say a 1 year old car. Even indi garages using genuine Ford parts couldn't match that price and you get an official Ford stamp in the service book (for what that's worth?).

My mk7 got it's 2nd year full service from fraud last week. I checked the oil, it was still black, i checked the air filter, it was filthy. They did however notice my drivers side brake pad was showing signs of overheating and decided to call me mid service (allegedly) and ask if I wanted it fixed for £110! I told them where to go, I'm convinced the only thing they did was find this alleged fault. never buying another fraud!

I told them where to go, I'm convinced the only thing they did was find this alleged fault. never buying another fraud!

would this not be covered under some sort of warranty. i dont expect the brakepads to overheat after only 2 years.(if they even actually are) or you a boy racer!. but does the car not come with like a 3 year warranty or something or is this for the engine only?

You imply you were charged for a service but the Ford dealer didn't change the oil and didn't change the air filter. Did you go back to the garage and complain? What was the garage's response?

Do you drive a diesel or a petrol engine? And according to ETIS the air filter gets changed in the 3rd year on the Fiesta.

it's a petrol and yes i was charged yet i need not bother complaining for if i do i know only to well they will rectify said complaint but i also know they will most likely empty their bladders into my fuel tank (kid u not it happened b4). From now on i shall be honest with the dealer and say, look here's 20 quid just stamp the feckin book and I'll do the rest myself. tbh isn't this the only reason we service our cars, to comply with manufactures demands in the hope of maintaining !Removed! warranty and at our own cost yet who actually feels comfortable leaving their car in their hands? I don't, id rather do it myself and if i bought second hand the seller told and showed me he'd serviced himself id be more likely to buy from him. :ph34r:

Well, here's one for you, I took my Fiesta into Ford on Monday as my gears have been getting really difficult to change after about 20 mins of driving. To cut a long story short, they called me and said it wasn't the clutch that was the problem, as they had suspected but an issue with the gearbox so i'd need a new one costing £1700 in total inc labour. I nearly started crying down the phone there and then!! they said they could open the box and see what the issue is inside but that would be £640 just for the labour as a kick-off and then cost of any parts after and could still need a new box. I got the car back and said i'd think about my options and took it to an independant garage who said they'd fit a refurbished one with a years guarantee for about £600. Go ahead I said and took it in to them. I got a call yesterday from the garage saying they had fixed the fault without the need for a new gearbox. The linkage had seized and they have fixed this for the princely sum of..... £70! I am seething with anger at Ford :angry: , Either their engineers are inept or they have tried to completely rip me off for £1600. Unbelievable!!!

Sounds like you're having a moan just for the sake of it. Why would you trust an owner who says they've serviced their car but not a garage who've stamped the service book? Makes no sense that. (Even if the owner was 100% honest in saying that, how does he manage to download the latest software updates for the engine management system etc?).

Don't know about anyone else but if someone charges me for a job that they haven't completed as specified I either complain to them and have them rectify it, complain to the manufacturer or complain to trading standards. What I don't do is let anyone away with !Removed! me around. In effect what you're saying is you've let the garage &#33;Removed&#33; all over you, but not in your fuel tank? I can't understand that.

PS - if you really distrust garages that much, ask to see your car being serviced. Most large garages have viewing areas.

Nice one BigBaz £1530 saving can't be bad! Hope you let the fraud stealer know about your savings with the independant garage! ;)

Hey at least you got your car washed - my Fiesta went in for its first service on a Saturday and they booked me in for about 10am and it needed new front pads.

They shut at 1pm and told me they didn't have time to wash it lol.

Plus they charged me nearly £150 JUST for some front pads, when I can get them from BMS for about £30 each...absolutely crazy.

New pads at 12,500 miles? Sounds like a scam, mate had a Focus from new and at every service dealer fitted new pads or pads and disks. He wrote to Ford asking why they couldn't design a car that could go more than 12,500 on one set of pads and got some £ back.

By way of a comparison wifes previous 06 Focus 1.6TDCI front pads lasted 50,000+ miles and my old 07 Fester 1.6TDCI ZS still had orginal pads at @40,000 when I traded it in.

Agreed, I changed the front pads on my 1.4 petrol '06 Fiesta at 63,000 and there was still some left on it!

Must be a theme with them trying to get pads out of us, I'm at 20k and they called me mid (alleged) service to say to front drivers sides pad was showing signs of overheating and that they would need to investigate at an additional charge of £35. I asked to speak to manager as I wasn't paying anything as the pads should last a minimum of 30K easy. He waffled some crap about debris getting stuck between pad and disc thus causing friction and overheating of the pad, pish I said, I asked if it needed changed and he admitted probably not! The cost would have been £90 for pads and £35 for labour, nice try I said, now jog on sunshine! &#33;Removed&#33; criminals! :angry:

This is why i'm very glad to have found a friend of my mums who tells it straight and will ONLY replace what actually needs replacing!!

He does it as a hobby so making money out of it isn't his priority, just covering the trade costs of the parts and we always give him extra anyway, nice little set up!

Hi

I emailed Bristol street ford worcester (Formally Brooklyn ford) And they replied that the first service will be £175.00

They said that the price covers parts and labour (The only part is the Oil Filter and Sump Plug washer if they can be bothered) And if you want to call it a part (Oil)
