TroodoN
Hello mk7 owners, This is my first post and I would appriciete if there was at least one reply, thank you :) I am seriously looking into buying fiesta mk7. I even had a test drive last month in zetec S 1.6 which is the car exacly as I want. The reason I dint buy it was that I had to spend a bit of money for something else and unfortunatelly this means I have to wait another 3 months. But! Today I found a fiesta 1.2 Zetec (82) that I can afford now! What to do guys? Should I wait for extra money (aprox 2.5k) and get 1.6 zetec S or get a cheaper not as quick 1.2? Can someone tell me how much a difference is in driving 1.2 (82bhp) vs 1.6 (122bhp)? cheers!

AndrewL
If you can afford it in just three months then wait. You'll probably regret it if you get the 1.25 when the 1.6 is your preferred choice. That said the 1.25 is fine to drive and fairly nippy.

Mk7_Rbj
get a 3 month low-interest loan and get it now!! :D
calmcdermott
I would definately wait, I wouldnt want to drop from a 1.6 to 1.25 especially as the Zetec isnt as good looking as the Zetec S
TroodoN
Guys, thanks for your replys so far, It is so tempting to buy it now, but as you say Zetec S looks better (17' wheels, spoilers, suspension) and its quicker. Do i gain anything else for 2.5k pounds? Need more opinions, cheers

Do i gain anything else for 2.5k pounds? Need more opinions, cheers Shouldn't be a difference of £2.5k. The Zetec base price is £11,645. A Zetec-S is £13,645 (+£2,000) or with Street Pack £13,920 (+£2,275) Those prices are very much inflated. My Zetec-S was £13,100 and it's a deisel which is £750 more than the petrol (OK it doesn't have the Street Pack). I wouldn't pay any more than £12,500 for a petrol. My advice? HAGGLE! Focus_ST-3
I would wait. Although the 1.25 is still a decent engine, its no match for the 1.6 if you like your driving!
wealdman
Don't forget to check the insurance premium implications!

jmurray01
The 1.25 hasn't changed since it was put into my 1997 MK4! And let me tell you it is fantastic! MPG well into the 40's, and great power for an engine it's size! It has even gained 8 BHP since my one was made so it will be even faster! I'd go for the 1.25, really, it has everything you need! Jason Tierney
Don't forget to check the insurance premium implications! Strange you say that, because earlier in the year when I was looking at insurance for my ZS The insurance for the edge 82ps one was the same price! Checked recently and they have both gone up but still same price. In my circumstances anyway. But yes, good idea, check your insurance and running costs, not exactly a fuel drinker is the ZS. I can get between 280miles to full tank around city caning it mostly or over 400 on the motorway, went from leeds to the south of ireland on one tank with some to spare, fully loaded as well. id say I can average about 300-330miles a tank of city driving. MarkyR
Without any doubt what so ever WAIT!!!!!!! What else do you get? A sharper handling car that looks the dogs. Hell I'm a balding 36 year old and I STILL get looks, every day!!! And mine is standard with the street pack and side skirts. Also I think you will want the extra power. You can also switch off the traction control system in the Zetec S. Anyway that's my opinions............

It seems quite a lot of people are switching from MG's & Rovers to Fords!
MarkyR
It seems quite a lot of people are switching from MG's & Rovers to Fords! Because they have upped there game to match the other manufactures quality. I was eve looking at the BMW 1 series when I was looking, and I chose the Fiesta over it, it was cheaper, ESPECIALLY the options and the Fiesta I would also say has more space in the back! Plus I got a top of the range Zetec with all the toys, a top of the range 1 series? Double what I paid I should think even if it is a lot faster, still same size. And look at Audi's A1, the top model still with 122 bhp and configured to a similar spec to a fully loaded Titanium or Zetec S and it comes to just under £20 grand!!! And that's 3 door only. I know the Audi will most likely be a quality product but come on!! It won't even be as fun handling or driving. Mind you it's like the Audi R8, if you configure that beyond it's pretty low standard spec (no standard bluetooth) and watch the price sky rocket! Certainly know how Audi make there money. jmurray01
I know Fords are great, expecially Fiestas, but being a MG-Rover fan as well I think the ZS is also a fantastic car! But for economy the Fiesta is better. And I wouldn't say a Ford was better quality than an MG... Especially the ZS!
TroodoN
Thanks people! It looks like im going to wait as poll results tell me there are 16 votes to wait and only 2 votes to buy it now. I will go with your decision and wait until Jan or Feb 2011. Im glad I found this forum and I am sure i will stick around. Once I get my mk7 I will start get involved a lot more. Cheers! Nico.
take this from someone with a 1.2.... wait and get the 1.6 yes the 1.25 is a brill car, its a fun underpowered little car which you can rev the sheeeet out of it and enjoy every second driving it, but if you see a zetec s driving past you wish you had that instead... insurance was what held me back with it being my first car, so yea WAIT!!! sussex
Having owned the 1.4 and 1.6 i would say definitely wait if its 1.25 Vs 1.
Ryan9684
I drive both regularly and i think you'd be mental to get the 1.25 if its only a 3 month wait to get a 1.6. How impatient can you get :)
