ok after a long drive ive just about ground the fillings out of my teeth. wiper judder is doing my head in! ive cleaned the screen with everything known to man, i use Bosch wipers and arms etc and still its happening. two long drives coming up soon, so a million brownie points to whoever can stop me going insane!!

i would personally try claying the windscreen and also upgrading to the banana type bendy blades if you havent already, i would go genuine on these as they tend to be of very good quality and are maybe a fiver more expensive than ones from halfrauds

many thanks fordpartsman for your advice, however i have no idea what claying my windscreen involves or the product i require, and "banana type bendy blades" please i need enlightening. I live in west wales and dont even have gas in my village!!!!

Beware the judder man, my dear, when the moon is fat.

wiper judder is usually caused by the blade being at such an angle to the screen that it can't "flip over" at the end of each sweep. It can also be caused to a lesser degree by old blades, not necessarily worn, but where the rubber has hardened due to exposure to UV light from the sun.

For a start, try bending the wiper arms, so that the wiper blade is closer to 90 degrees. It is trial and error, I'm afraid.

The clay mentioned is a block of mildly abrasive cleaner. I'd keep that for Plan C.

The wipers mentioned are better known as "flat blade" wipers, and use a single sprung piece of metal to keep them on the screen, instead of the usual model of the Forth Bridge. I would strongly recommend upgrading to Bosch Aerotwins. The best price I found for a pair of these for my car was on eBay at just £17.95 + £2.95 P&P = £20.90. They came from Guernsey, hence the price being just under the £18.00 limit for VAT and import duty.
