It's a topic which has arisen several times in this forum. Is it helpful in icy conditions to de-activate ESP in the Mk 7 Fiesta (switching off in the Zetec S, pulling fuses in the Titanium)? Now's the moment to post some real-life experiences – no theorising please!

I'm not sure you can switch off the ESP in the Zetec S, but you can turn off the traction control. I've tried playing about with and without the traction control, didn't notice that much difference, but there wasn't all that much snow/ice to practise on where I live (yet)

I have being reading up on this the other day, it says that when you are on the move use it but if you are approaching a steep hill (going up)or setting on on a hill turn it off otherwise it will just cut power to the wheels and you won't move anywhere. Personally I have being using it when again on the move as it really does help, I oversteered in the snow last night and I think it may have spun if I didnt have the ESP on and it brought it back in line.

Hope this helps :)
