lucas1787
Hi, as the weather is now a lot colder, my focus has struggled to start when cold.It used to just fire straight up, but will now take longer. Once its warm, it will start up fine.Any ideas on whats this is?. I have put a new battery on. Thanks Focus 1.6 Zetc 1999

Thanks Focus 1.6 Zetc 1999 Lack of a garage Weak antifreeze solution Too many accessories on when trying to start (ie. lights, fan, radio, heated screens...) Damp coil, leads, plugs Freezing fuel ( diesel ) Too many short runs not allowing the engine compartment to warm up, or early morning/late night runs depleting the battery more than normal. The list is endless.........

mjt
It could be a faulty temperature sensor - sounds like it's underfuelling when cold and needs to build up a concentration of fuel before it will fire.

Dangerdaz
Did you manage to sort this out? I am having the exact same problems as you described!
artscot79
Did you manage to sort this out? I am having the exact same problems as you described! ide check spark plugs first are they old and needing changed after that it is possible the icv can freeze if it gets cold enough faulty temp sensor as well will not help the antifreeze is fine to minus 25 degrees so as long as it hasnt been getting diluted by topping up with water they should be fine
