kabz77
Good Morning Ladies & Gents As most mk7 Fiesta owners would have noticed there seems to be loads of aftermarket products available for our car and sometimes its difficult to choose one from another. This was the dilemna I had regarding a full exhaust, I done a lot of back ground reading/research and the three leading companies seemed to be 1. Miltek, 2. Mountune and 2. Piper. At the end I decided to purchase the Miltek system from Puma Speed (4-2-1 manifold, Sport cat and the new dual exhaust), I have to say I am really impressed with the build quality and fitting, I had to travel up to Puma Speed to purchase the kit and have it fitted (just so you're all aware Puma Speed do a postal service, but make sure you have a competent mechanic to fit it, also be aware the lambda sensor will need to be extended to fit on the new exhaust, this is usually a simple soldering job). The reason I never went for a Piper system is becuase of the loudness, not very comfortable when driving on the motorway, I needed something that gives me good performance but low noise. Interestingly the Mountune exhausts from my research appear to be supplied by Miltek - if anyone from Mountune can confirm if this is correct please that would be great. There was a Mountune branded Fiesta at Puma Speed and I was shown the exhaust and it had the same part numbers and metal stamps as the Miltek exhausts but the only difference being the Mountune logo was embossed on the lip of the exhaust, so why should a customer spend that little more on a Mountune exhaust when they can get the same item from Puma Speed at a more competitive price. I understand Mountune items dont void your warranty but its a Fiesta and what is likely to go wrong from fitting an aftermarket exhaust??? Another small piece of information for you guys that are planning on upgrading your exhaust, in the last 4 to 5 weeks the sales of Miltek kits have shot up - surely the figures for sales should tell people what kits are working. Good luck with whatever upgrades you decide to do. Thank you for reading. Kabir
DanGull
As I understand it - it's not just the warranty associated with the parts fitted that is voided by fitting an aftermarket part - it's the whole warranty.
iNath
As I understand it - it's not just the warranty associated with the parts fitted that is voided by fitting an aftermarket part - it's the whole warranty. Surely Ford would have to prove the fault was caused because of that part? (Or I suppose they'll put the onus on you to prove it wasn't!) AndrewL
I suppose they'll put the onus on you to prove it wasn't! That would be my understanding of the process - if they can get out of doing something they will. As for the exhaust, sounds great but I doubt my insurers would like it as much as I would - a quote search for the Mountune 140 kit put my insurance up by about 3 times! kabz77
I'm with Adrian Flux and my premium went up by only £160 - thats declaring performance exhaust, induction kit, dress up kit, suspension etc. If you can afford to get the exhaust fitted you need to do this, the performance of the car now is sooooo much better. Give Tony at Puma Speed a call he is always willing to do a cash deal.
Dave@Mountune
To clarify; the exhaust Milltek (Pumaspeed) sell and the Mountune exhaust are completely different - please feel free to phone Milltek themselves and check this. We're now on our third revision of silencer as part of our ongoing product development process and we have extensive changes to the interior design for improved performance and audible comfort. The exhaust you saw on the car at Pumaspeed is probably the Mountune exhaust... but as above, it's not the same as the items they sell. They couldn't get an exhaust together before FordFair for their demonstrator so they had OUR Mountune 140PS kit fitted at Kempster Ford and then called it their own... Kabir when you get your car serviced and they plug into the ecu the mod you have made goes stright on to the etis system and bye bye warranty
