Saxo Vtr Vs. Ford Focus Mk1 2.0I

Hi all, I'll cut to the chase.

The Baddy CAr!:

There's a saxo vtr 1.6 (Chav car from hell) that drives around my area, it's driven by a guy I went to school with from back in the day. He's lowered it 80mm all round?! The biggest mods he has done are induction kit and a hideous sounding straight through exhaust sytstem and removed the back seats and stuck in a roll cage (Which he will probably realise was as a good investment the way he's heading with his driving style) 60 in a 30 need I say more?, NASA have had quieter takes offs! But he's had no remap etc. So the extra horses intended probably aren't running at full capacity etc.

The Angry I hate Saxo's car:

Right I drive a mk1 2.0i Foucs, I have had it lowered 40mm all round have had a pipercross induction kit, sportex 4" backbox (no change to the through system)and st170 alloys that's about it performance wise. My car really can shift, and when fully serviced I think it'll be even better.

He's offered me out for a drag race on a number of occasions however I value both my life and license, in essence the guys a nutter driving a car that sounds like it's running on rocket fuel. I've seen it go and I won't lie it was quite fast.

Bottom line is anybody have any opinions on who would win should such an event occur. He probably has the weight advantage, but I know I'm running at about 140bhp (Minimum work done) He's looking around 105 maybe 110 being generous.

(I've attached pictures of the Devils car but I haven't got any good ones of mine as it's just finished having work done.

Only one way to find out, but do it on a track ffs. You have more power but he has a lighter car so it might be close enough. :)

from personal experiance that saxos are rapid of the start line but once they get to around 40-50mph they will tend to slow in accelleration, thats where you can get him and get him hard...your top speed will flog him but take too long to get there and he will have you on accelleration.

and as above post...do it on a track...do it on roads and you may have face the possible consequences!

Ive only ever ONCE beaten down a saxo it was a blue vtr so the 1.6 8v he must of had a really bad start because i just completely tore it a new one mines only a 1.6 16v zetec-se engine.

If you've got a 2.0 focus you'll nock it senseless on a bad day im less than a car length of a vtr BUT if it is a vts then ur stuffed unless your running past 60mph. They have a flat spot in 2nd at 30-40ish due to the long gearing but thats the vts only. The vtr is easy to kill they have a short 2nd gear you should be able to hit about 65ish in 2nd gear his just wont.

If you really want to win just get a dark blue volvo of a new shape mondeo in a dark colour and follow him at a little bit of a distance if he has a brain he'll think your a copper and slowww right down :P did this alot in my dads st220 here there often used as police training cars so the youth in modded cars avoid them like plague. Good times haha

Damn that Saxo is a shed LOL.. I would feel ashamed driving that. I was shopping in chesire oaks last week and was in the area all day and i must of seen about 10 different pimped out Vauxhall Corsa's with stupid twin exhausts and body kits  <_< <_< They sound soo stupid and they dont even realise. Most of them are about 1.0 to 1.2 lites tops and one tried to smoke me off at the lights but i just flawed it and left him in the distance.

I'm glad I'm not the only Focus owning Saxo hater.!! Bit of a rant but I just hate chav cars!! Stupid body kits lowered to the point where speed bumps are impossible! It's definately a VTR i plate checked it etc. I've only had my Focus a month so am still getting used to it but i can do 65 in second no issue. I'm only 17 and moving from a 1.2 to fiesta to a 2.0i Focus is nuts! Can't wait to hit the big bills and get a Shelby 500 ;)

I nailed a VTS that was stripped out and lowered in my BOG STANDARD 1.8 zetec Escort Ghia X.

Mind you we were side by side til around 100mph but as he toped out around 125mph he had no chance as i carried on to 140mph.

All French cars are pants

If u dont mind me asking are you down as the 2nd driver even though its your car? Im 3rd party fire an theft and pay £145 a month so god knows how much you pay lol

Is it really illegal if i put my car in my dads name and put him as the main driver and me as the 2nd?? and would it risk his 20+ years no claims if i smashed it? as my policy ends in 2 months and will hopefully have 1 years no claims but was wanting to get a faster car myself but the only way i can afford that is putting my dad as the main driver with a 2nd car.

by putting your dad as the main driver and yourself as a named driver, if you are found to be driving the vehicle more than your dad and in worse case scenerio have a crash etc and they find out, your insurance will NOT pay out.

i have fully comp insurance, as main driver...my dad as named (discount since "86 and still counts as named), rolled a peugeot 307 1.6 rapier 5 door, total loss. Im now just turned 21 and in forces. now have a ford focus 1.8 TDCI and i pay £143 for 9 months and have 3 months free. that is social, domestic, pleasure and business.

Thats what i dont understand how could the insurance company ever know who is driving it more ?? They can never prove who is driving it can they. Ive known 18-21 year olds driving St focus's "group 16" insurance and 2 litre Bmw's and surely they cannot be the main driver on them. I think most young drivers put the parent down as the owner/main driver and themselves as the 2nd. Surely the insurance company would only smell a rat if it was the 2nd driver that crashed it a few times??

in some insurance companies terms and cons, they do say they may audit you and stick a tracker in etc and by taking the insurance out your agreeing to this. agreed it is hard if not very difficult to find out who is driving but i would assume there are ways...

one way i was thinking of as i was typing was...say for instance your a name driver but drive the car more than the main...the car is going to be full of your stuff. if worse case scenerio is dragged up say...you had an RTA and injured/killed someone...everything has to be left in the car...for evidence, the police will then check this over and say the named driver was driving, the insurance company will want to take a look at the car and will see all this stuff...common sense will say what a middle aged person will have in a car compared to the teenager. they can make assumptions and get you on that one. i could be wrong but it makes sense to me.

i know what you mean tho, in my local area i see 18 year olds driving Warriors and what not....clearly on their parents insurance and more than likely do not hold insurance as they are cheap pikeys!

My insurance is completly legitimate, really not a good idea cheating insurance! I saved up lots to cover the insurance policy and for the car. And very pleased to be a Focus driver after all!
