i dont believe its legal mate in a hatchback the seat would sit above the wheel and in an accident you dont want to be sitting there it would kill a child if someone hit the rear or rear side quarter

Man I love this forum your kids are more important than your focus mate, id advise trading it in for a bigger motor now before it loses more value the second hand market is pretty good at the moment or maybe buy your partner a cheap estate car £2,000 and keep your focus,

if ya sit down and work out the amount of times you will all travel in the car together at once it may be a better option,

as the second estate car would only be doing miles when you all are leaving the house together which wouldn’t be that much miles, and in the event of it breaking down you have your focus to go and collect her or toe it home ;) Sorted.

We have a 3rd child due in June. We did a trial fit of 2 booster seats and a baby seat today and it just doesn't work. I mean you can physically get them in (the focus is a wide car), but its just not practical trying to get your hands down the side and do the seatbelts up.

So my car will be going up for sale in the spring. The ideal car to replace it with would be an S-max, but they are pricey. I might end up with something like a Scenic or a Xsara Picasso.

cheers people the only problem is noone will touch my finance on the focus and let me upgrade for something bigger which when i got it on ford options i was told it was easy to do...... dont really want to get rid of my shiny new focus cause its the dogs danglies!!! and it means loosing lots of shiny beer tokens which are harder to come by lately.. was offered a trade for a galaxy from my ford garage which would've been ideal then they said they couldn't do the finance soo really im stuck in a !Removed! hole where ive got a really nice car but its too small . :o

1st question, are you a current or ex bootneck(i realise once a bootneck always one)? or just admire them?

2nd Can they not part ex for an older plate galaxy? Or have they basically said "no we cant/wont help"

well ive the mk1 and it can be done the childseat if a correct one shouldnt move so when the belts in thats it and the 2 booster seats can be done its a squeeze to get the belt in sometime but really a small price to pay wouldnt touch a scenic or a picasso from fixing motors i wouldnt touch a citroen pugeot or renault heres the galaxy a few mitsubushis if youre wanting a wagon but god no not a scenic

I would trade it in, amongst other things, with the slanted window, you would have a bit of a risk there, I wouldnt do it!

the dealers have said theres nothing they can do because of my finance and i cant afford to pay out any extra to get another car ..looks like i'll have to wait 2 years till i can get ford to let me swap it for something bigger....ford really know how to do things...Not!!

3 in the car we already deal with but theres no room for 4 kids

at the min the only way out of it would be if the boot would take a sideways seat .

  • 8 years later...

I did this in my 2018 focus st....

Meant having the boot floor reinforced with 6mm sheet metal seam welded and high utensil steel bolts for the new seat were put in place before welding i lost the spare wheel .however I had a space saver so they cut the wheel screw and nut holder off inside the wheel well and welded it against the back seat  on the drivers side. my spare wheel lived there and bolted on . Oh I forgot in st my wheel well had modules in it they were put in the rear quater. 3 months after my car was stolen

I know it's an 8yr old post but just wanted to put it out there that it can be done safely
