Stovies
The owners manual supplied with my Fiesta Zetec 1.25 09 plate states " If ESP light does not illuminate on dash when starting , there is a malfunction" well mine doesn't light up. Is ESP fitted as standard on this model? Or is there a malfunction?
mark t
Think at that point (as I had on my 58 titanium) it was still an optional extra. Hope this helps
AndrewL
Mark's right it was an optional extra. If the light doesn't come on momentarily when you turn the ignition on the car doesn't have ESP fitted unfortunately.
zetec bevvie
ESP became standard on all Fiestas built from March 2010, models MY 2010.5 onwards. Before that it was an optional extra.
mark t
One clue is if you are at the front at traffic lights, try putting your foot down, if you wheel spin you don't have it, if you don't spin, you do!

Lol, you can wheel spin, as ive done many of times, just the dash turns into a christmas tree and all the warning lights come up haha
mark t
Mine would never let me, except on loose ground!
RCJ
really? I can do it pulling out of a road junction quickly! Maybe my driving is like the stigs haha
AndrewL
You can get a bit of a chirp out of the front tyres, it cuts in pretty soon though. I still can't believe I haven't got an off switch.
Nay ZS
Just done a quick test of mine. Gave it full throttle out of my damp road with full lock on. For the first couple of seconds its allowed a fair bit of wheelspin whilst pulling out BUT it kept the engine revs under control. (about 2500 - 3000 max revs i think). with my foot still planted the revs then dropped a little again and complete traction was regained with no wheelspin at all. Wondering if the Zetec S traction control is programmed to allow more slip than other models ?
mark t
Yeah, my zetec s spins more than the titanium did, even with esp turned on!
mrobins64495
I cant get mine to wheel spin at all, the esp comes on but it compensates so well.
Stovies
Think at that point (as I had on my 58 titanium) it was still an optional extra. Hope this helps Thanks, it's just what i thought, but cheers for the confirmation! I have another wee problem that i can't work out. My car has Speakers in the rear doors, but no sound comes out. The Audio manual that came with the car isn't relevant to this model, but the owners manual says the "Fade" button controls the rear Speakers. well believe it or not there isn't a "Fade" button on the Sound menu. Should there be an audio manual for this model or does the owners manual cover it? Any help would be grateful.
mark t
Are there Speakers in the door, or just the holes where if there were speaker, the sound would come out?
Stovies
There are Speakers fitted to the doors which suggests they are wired up and should function, but not a peep. I tried using the "balance" on the sound menu but this obviously just controls the balance between left and right front Speakers. There is also a "Middle" button on this menu but it just seems to do the same as the balance . I looked at the Speakers again, and there doesn't seem any way to access the back to see if there are actully speakers (or wires) attached. looks like the whole door panel needs to come out. It looks the same with the front ones (which do work,) IE not screwed in place but molded to the door panel. I think i'll go out and buy a haynes manual. :(

If there's no fade option on the stereo it's safe to assume you don't have the 6 speaker option. Im pretty sure it's only standard on Titanium models. Have you checked ETIS to see what equipment is fitted to your car?
