PMH Sheffield
Hi all, back in December, when it was -8, my Focus C-Max Zetec 04 plate TDCI broke down, the engine system failure light and warning sign came on. The engine would not turn over. I had the car recovered to my local garage and they checked it out and couldn't see any issues, the engine system failure light didn't come on again although the engine did cut out a few times. I then drove it the short distance home without any problems. Since them I haven't used it but did start it up a to see how it sounded. It was giving out alot of smoke from the exhaust and the engine did not sound good. A neighbour who I am happy knows his stuff, suggested that it sounded like a timing belt issue. I was advised by my garage to speak with an electronics specialist re the engine issues at another garage. I spoke with the recommended garage and they didn't want to really take my car if there was a suspected timing belt issue. So I guess I will try again with my own garage, who I do trust and respect. There seems to be some either reluctance or lack of knowledge re the problem I'm having. It would be nice to have use of my car again!! Any recommendations from other people in the know or who have had similar issues would be greatly appreciated. I am based in Sheffield. Thanks. Johnerz
Hi I am having the same problem now with my 2005 Focus Cmax TDCI, only difference was that I didn't have an engine system failure warning. Regards
