savcom
I'm wondering how easy it is to tell what version of the software is installed on both the radio and on the bluetooth. Is it as simple as a menu option or are there more subtle signs (like changed menus etc. <_< ) Can anyone help here? More to the point, what is the latest versions for a non-Sony equipped Titanium? Cheers Savcom

Thanks Jay Once you're on your vehicle page, go to " Vehicle Software " then to " Summary "
andyedge
Sadly this only works on newer models. "Vehicle software information is not available for your selected vehicle. This information is currently only available for Stage V emission vehicles. "
Jason Tierney
Ahh okay, Id rather have Stage IV than know what software my car is running to be honest :D
tvAddict
Am I doing something wrong in ETIS? I don't see a Vehicle Software heading.. just Lookup and Summar. Maybe it is for registered users only....

I did last night and now have access to a whole load more stuff, including the TSB's were it tells you all the faults and how dealers fix them! MartynS
Isn't registering only for dealers etc, and don't you have to pay something?
iNath
Isn't registering only for dealers etc, and don't you have to pay something? Probably, didn't charge me though. Just clicked register, entered a couple of details and I'm in!

Maybe it is for registered users only.... Was (no, sorry, AM) slightly worried that without registering and with just the registration number you can get so much about the car - inc the VIN. :o However, mine is a Stage IV so no joy. What's next on the list? OBD?
mikester
mine is running: 8A6T_18C815_BM you reckon the 'BM' is restricting me from streaming music over bluetooth as apparantly the latest version ends with 'BR'? desperate to get streaming on mine :(

savcom
anyone translate for me, can i come off poverty spec aux cable? Can't translate, but let's start with what you're streaming from. Let us know that and we can work to resolve. Also - does your car have the USB and the Aux in as that makes a difference to the capabilities of the bluetooth module.
mikester
I have aux only, I don't buy into needing USB to stream as voice control works fine. Also I've read on here that someone with an 09 plate like mine had some software upgrades and was able to stream and change tracks on the steering wheel. I wish I had USB but that's a whole other story. I'm using iPhone 4 with latest software trying to stream from the in built iPod and Spotify. No joy yet :(

savcom
Ok - before we veer off onto the 'this phone works/that phone doesn't' debate, can we fall back to my original question? We've found that ETIS is no good for this for earlier cars. We've found out that the best guess so far is a Dealer with a laptop. Is that it? Does anyone know if we can tap into any OBD port and find out from there? Tempted to try 'browsing' the bluetooth from my laptop to see what is offered from the car. We'll see if the weather holds long enough to try.... (some chance of that methinks )

caveman
For clarity I took in my 09 Zetec S to the dealer as I could not stream music via bluetooth, it was not my usual dealer and they were helpful (could not believe it) when i went to book it in I spoke to the there tech that deals with the electronics etc. He said he would check on other vehicles with and without the usb and try with his iPhone if it worked. I took it in a week later and was told that although the phone does support bluetooth music streaming the programme and spec of audio equipment in my car which is bluetooth and AUX in does not support bluetooth streaming. I asked why that was as if I can make calls via bluetooth why cant I stream music. He stated that it was the programme that was installed when the car was built and that they can not re-write this but are only supplied updates for that current programme. I asked if the module, stereo looms etc can be changed and he said no as stated above they do not have the programmes to install as this is only done when the car is built and does not think it could be retro-fitted So if you have bluetooth Aux in but no usb then no you cannot stream music, if you have bluetooth Aux in and usb then you can stream. Anyone that states they can stream bluetooth with the first audio option cant be right. Oh and you cant retrofit the USB think its been tried on here and they failed. On a plus for me they replaced the BT module and updated the software on warranty as they found an error code.
