Scimitar
Just got my new Mk7 Fiesta, very happy with it. :) I've been reading the owners manual, and I see that there is a space in the fuse box for a Daytime Running Lights Fuse and a Relay. Anybody know if I buy the relay and stick a fuse in, will I have DRL's, or is that just wishful thinking? Thanks!
iNath
Might needs the lights too ;) and a new bumper to fit them on?
harweyko
it depends if you have also wires in fuse box, I assume most of cars does not have it.... this feature is mainly used in Nordic countries and as I have noticed also in Poland...you do not need any new bumper and lights as it uses dipped beam with restricted voltage, so the bulb ligths only to 60-70%, which is enough for DRL and is also saving bulbs... I assumed the DRL's were the LED strips on the bumper - wasn't aware some cars used normal lights on low power.

antman99
if you want to go down the oem route yes it needs programming but it will cost so much in labour is it really worth it? BUT i have DRL's and they turn off when normal lights come on, involves a relay some LED strips and some swearing! If anyone wants to know details let me know. BHeart
Hi I've been following this thread regarding the DRL's and from the reply by Harweyko, it appears that some Fiesta Mk7's may already have the wiring, relays, modules and fuses installed. My Fiesta Mk7 was built in September 2010 and would like know if it is likely to have the necessary wiring etc and, if so, does anyone have any info on how much it would cost for the dealer to programme the DRL's to work? I would obviously prefer it if LED DRL's were installed during build but they were not available then. BHeart
JonZS
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it but did you know Ford have these available? http://www.fordeumicrosites.com/en-GB/all_model_catalogue/index.html PAGE 12 MS DESIGN

antman99
I remember a while back the ones in the catalogue cost around £300 plus fitting, personally i don't like them but it is a personal choice, for confirmation the 2011 (sept 2010-) models DO NOT have the fuse and relay, they have the space but it is not wired in any way nor is it a simple case of putting a relay in the box there is no electrical circuit for it. MRC89
You could make your own better, brighter ones for less than a tenner. You'd probably have to make your own housing, and fit them yourself though. Check out dealextreme.com for components (shockingly bad Asian quality, but very very cheap) I'd be tempted to mount them in the lower grill maybe? 3-5 powerful LED button cells, and mist the lens' over to reduce glare and maintain a nice bright light. Nico.
i dont know about there being a spot in the fuse box for it, but when you scratch ya head and look at it, it aint really to hard to plug them in running off the fuse box

They cost enough, but you don't have to exagerate ... normally 332.75 € for mine (black fiesta above), normal black plastics, but I got 20 % discount so was 266.20 ( Belgium )€. But I got an offer for painted ones in shiny Panther Black also for 300 €. In Germany, the ford dealers will fit the car colored ones for about 450 €, all included.
