BIGGSY
Hey peeps, *Please see pics that go with this post* I have come up with a good idea for all those people with a ford focus where the AUX port is located in the glove box. I have only recently got my ford focus and I went out and brought a 3.5mm to 3.5mm AUX jack for my Blackberry so that I can play all my stored songs though the car. I noticed that when you have it plugged in you either have to use the AUX port with the glove box open so all you stuff flies out when driving or if you use it closed you have to close the glove box door on the cable therefore trapping it between the door and the dash. This could probably damage not only the cable but the dash too. To solve this I removed the glove box and noticed that there was enough space for the cable to fit down the side of the glove box. To do this I drilled a large enough hole in the glove box to the side of the AUX port (see pics)so that I could feed the cable though and down the side of the glove box. The cable fits without obstruction through the bottom of the dash. This then means you can connect your device with the glove box closed. when you are not using the cable it coils up neatly and tucks into the carpet lining under the dash. (see pics)This means that it is still out of the way free from damage and doesn’t look untidy with wires hanging around. I hope this solves some peoples problems and leave a message back if this helps you :-)
Sara Fiesta
Excellent idea thanks, on the subject of jack plugs the one in our focus seems very loose and thankfully the cable is small enough to allow the glovebox to be closed otherwise it would possibly fall out! Are they all this loose?
BIGGSY
well no ,My AUX jack it very secure. Mabey an idea to remove the glove box its self and this is very easy to do just undo all the screws you can see around the glove box, and there are some located under 3 flaps at the bottom and see if the holder at the back needs tightening?. If i have the wrong end of the stick and your talking about the cable being loose in the socket then yes mine is a little loose but I would'nt say loose enough for it to fall out. Im not sure how old your focus is and how often you use the AUX port but it might be that the port itself is wearing a bit and might suggest replaement. Hope this helps Biggsy
