Mk4 Fiesta Oil Leak

Hi all, first post.

Well it's our first Ford since the '53 Prefect (back in '82), and quite impressed.

It's left a stain on the road for the first time, and inspection shows engine oil coming from between the engine and gearbox (Endura - E, not Zetec). Probably the crankshaft oil seal giving out, it's got 82,000 on the clock, but the question is: how much of a pain is it getting the job done on the drive. I don't really want to do that (getting old and better things to do than fight rusted exhausts etc.), so looks like a garage job, and so the next question probably be met with 'how long is a piece of string', but anyone have any idea of a cost at garage? Haynes? Yes I've got that, but trust it like a randy Italian with my daughter.

Wouldn't get crushed in the stampede of responses would I?

Clutch slave cylinder was the main culprit, though aided and abetted by the rear crankshaft oil seal.

New clutch kit including friction disc, thrust bearing integral to the slave cylinder, along with replacement oil seal - £300.

Sweet again. Garage completed the job in two hours. Would have taken me that long to realise I wish I hadn't started.
