Had a bit of a check over on the car the other day and nocticed that the tyres are wearing down quite considerabally on the outside of the front tyres the car has only done 12,000 miles and i would expect a good 5-10,000 more, got a feeling the tracking is out as the handling is not great so if i get it realigned do you think tht will buy me a bit off time till after xmas to replace the tyres?

Thanks Sian :P

get an alignment check and make sure the pressures are spot on, depending on the wear i cannot say how much more milage you will get out of them.

Do what Mintalkin has suggested. Another thing to look at, would be the wheel balancing. As tyres wear, the intial balancing becomes incorrect adding to more wear.

But depending on how much the tyres have worn, depends if they'll last until the New Year. You could always get them looked at & sorted as suggested, then change them round with the rear tyres.

Got the car onto a ramp and passenger side is worse than my side but still legal, tyre pressure was rediculous the front two came up as 15!!! and the rear were just hitting 20!!!!

Sounds like 'if' you have alloys you have the classic problem with alloys................namely they leak! I once went to a garage for tyres where the fitter told me how certain models were worse than others then tried to sell me a new set of alloys !!! Er no thanks, i stripped and dipped them in chromate then repainted them so they wouldn't corrode again! ( see a previous post of mine re: alloys leaking)
