Airbags

This has always confused me a bit as on Ford's site it implies some airbags are standard then later on lists them under the 'Curtain Airbags' option implying they aren't. Am I right in thinking as standard you only get the driver, passenger, and lower side ones (non-head ones, coming from the seat?), and the optional extra adds the upper (head) side ones and drivers knee? Also, what's the 'anti-whiplash head restraint' they list under that option?

It seems a bit harsh as well making you pay for the extras, being a safety thing and all - who actually pays the £250 for them?

Edit - Just looked on Ford's site and you pay £275 for this:

includes side-airbag pack (thorax only), knee airbag and anti-whiplash head restraint

while this is included:

head and thorax (includes knee airbag and anti-whiplash head restraint)

I'm fairly sure that you get 5 airbags as standard (you did when I got mine in 09) - driver, front passenger, head and thorax side airbags and a drivers knee airbag. You can get curtain airbags as an option for a couple of hundred quid and that changes the side aide airbags to thorax only, as the curtain ones cover your head - and those of those in the rear seats too.

The antiwhiplash head restraints is just referring to the way that they're designed to support your head and neck in an impact - I don't think it's implying that they're active or anything like that.

HTH.

Ah right, I hadn't considered that the sides change into two separate ones. Thanks for that!
