I have a ford Focus MK1 1999 CL in which I have replaced the light switch with one that supports front fog lights.
I have examined the engine bay very closely from above and below and the wiring and connectors for the fog lights
are not there.

Looking at the connector on the switch itself, there are green/yellow wires connected to both terminals 2 and 3
so I assume the wire on terminal 3 is for the front fogs lights.
The schematic diagram for the lighting in the Haynes book shows this Green/yellow wire splitting into 2 wires that are
green/white which then run to each fog light.

I am looking to find that green/yellow wire from the switch and make my own cable to join onto it.
The earth can easily be wired and all I'd then need to get, is the plugs to connect to the fog lights.

I have several questions.
1. Does the green/yellow wire from the switch run into the engine bay so that I can join to it there
without having to run a wire from inside the car?
2. If so, can someone point me at the part of the loom where I can find this wire.
3. Where is it that the single green/yellow cable splits into the two green/white ones?
This would obviously be the best place to splice in my own wiring.
Especially if this point is accessible within the engine bay!
4. If I do have to run a wire from the inside of the car to the engine bay, what is the easiest
place to do it, preferably without drilling any holes?

Thanks for any help you can give me

Have you removed the lower front grill? I used to have a 1999 LX, and the wireing and connectors were all there.

Thanks for the quick reply .No I haven't removed that grill. The other day I had some new tyres fitted to the front of the car and while it was up on the ramp I could stand underneath it and clearly see everything that is behind that grille and unfortunately the wires are not tucked away anywhere there. I could clearly examine the whole lower front of the car and I can see a loom that runs around the front just above the upper grill that has branches coming off to feed the front light clusters, indicators and horn but there is nothing else there. I've even pulled the wires out of the plastic sleeving to check the colour coding and the only green/white wirres are the ones feeding the main beam.

I will add that this car did not originally have the front fog lights and the front bumper, trim, grills and bonnet were all replaced about a year ago by my brother and while all the front of the car was "exposed" he looked for wires to connect to the fogs and couldn't find anything. Hence my thinking of making my own wiring for the fogs. I just need to know where I can pick up that wire from the switch to run it from.

If you have a Focus, I'd appreciate knowing where the fog light wires actually join into the loom so I can check what cables are in the loom at that point. If you know where that green/yelow wire from the light switch runs to, that'd be very helpful too.

Can anybody point me at where I can pick up the end of the green/yellow front fog light cable that leaves the light switch
on terminal 3. I really don't want to pick at all the looms in the engine bay to find it, especially if it does not
run into the bay.

Please help.

CL's are known for having the bare basics in terms of what you can "add on yourself".

Examples of this I've found are Trip Computer, Variable Speed Wipers, And Front Fogs.

LX's tend to have most if not all of the required cable looms. Zetec upwards you can add pretty much whatever you want, The wiring will be there.

This I can only vouch for applying to MK1's, Not sure what the situation is on the rest.
