Mondeo Tdci Shaking Violently On Acceleration

I have had my Mondeo TDCI 115bhp since december 2006 and it has been a pretty decent car. Couple of things amiss due to previous owner trying (badly) to do repairs himself but all in all it drove well and was sound. Recently I have developed a problem where when I accelerate briskly the whole car shakes so violently that I almost get blurred vision and have to back off. I also now get, although wasn't when the problem started, a grinding sound coming from what appears to be the front drivers side. I cannot drive the car above 50mph now without the car shaking, I feel it through the floor and the steering wheel shakes also. On slowing down I now hear a grinding sound coming from the front drivers side although I wasn't getting that before. I suspect the wheel bearing is going and is separate but thought I'd tell all of the problems. I have checked the brake pads and they are fine, I've had both drive shafts replaced and I still have the problem. I am aware that the Mondeo has a 2 part system on the driveshafts and am pretty sure that only the side nearest the wheels were replaced. The garage I went to says it is the gearbox but I can't see how as it is fine until I get to a certain speed, usually 50 or 60mph, and it doesn't matter what gear I am in. Could someone please help me as my bank balance is not good and I need the car to be safe for my family. Has the car had a smash on the drivers side? you mention a wheel bearing noise, that and the fact the car shakes makes me thing that the suspension has been damaged including the bearing.

The car has been fine for me in 5 years of ownership until recently so I know it's not had a crash in that time. The suspension leg on the drivers side is slightly bent but I don't want to replace that unless I know it will solve the problem or I can fix the problem relatively cheaply. I don't want to throw good money after bad.

Im no mechanic but is there anyway it could be an engine mount gone, cant see why the whole car would vibrate unless something big was moving. Just a thought.

my car was doing exactly this, was the lower engine mount that was gone.

the previous owner drove on the bad engine mount long enough to damage an inner CV aswell.

a mechanic should be able to pick a bad engine mount very easily

i know this is an old thread but did you get to the bottom of this probem? my car is doing exactly this problem and i am struggling for a diagnosis. im thinking its a torque issue on the dmf as its has done about 160,00 miles on the same kit now
