hi iv recently bought a focus tdci 2.0 05 plate and the engine light has come on so i get my cousin to plug in a reader and read the code and its a build up in the exhaust, he got the light to go out and said i might need to get some engine flush/cleaning product to go in my fuel "not done this yet though" the light has come back on and every now and then when i take the car 4 a drive it revs to about 2000rpm and the turbo doesnt kick in it just dordles along with no power but if i turn the engine off and on again once or twice it starts working as normal again, its really annoying me, any advice would be appreciated thanks.

Seems like your car is going into safe mode . Does your car have a DPF fitted , if so you should read some of the forum posts on here regarding the DPF filter

It is going into limp home mode, my money is on the DPF, that is probably why the last owner sold it. See DPF link in my signature. How many miles has it on the clock? Year six in the Ford Maintenance Schedule has the DPF down for renewal and the Eloy's additive tank refilling.

By the way welcome to the forum.

£199 delivered But you will also need the Eloy's tank refilling plus ECU reset at a Ford dealership. Both jobs as per Ford Maintenance Schedule, year six or 75K miles whichever comes first.

You see anything over 75K and your living on borrowed time. In your case it looks to have given up the ghost at 80K, you need a new DPF. Don't waste your money on an attempted "Forced Regeneration" which is in essence a DPF attempted clean out. It's reached the end of the manufactures expected lifespan for the product, end off.

See this other thread for info regards going the independent garage, or DIY route DPF Is Knackered
