06 Focus 1.8Tdci Abnormal Turbo Noise

When driving the car coming onto and off the turbo in each gear there is a very abnormal noise. the noise is identical to a sucking in of air noise. The noise only happens when driving the car.

I have brought the car in checked the pipes coming of the turbo and going to intercooler and there is nothing wrong with any off these pipes.

Could it possibly be the turbo is on its way out or has anyone ever came across this problem before.

many thanks

Check the 90 degree bend, sounds like you have a leak on one of the hoses!

I have checked all the pipes coming from turbo to intercooler, I even checked all the vaccum pipes but found no leaks.

it certainly sounds like there is air somewhere it shouldnt be, is it noticable only after the turbo kicks in? i.e. if you drive at 1500 revs, do you hear it? worst case scenario could be a turbo bearing or something similar

you can hear it at 1800rpm once the turbo kicks in and then it goes away at about 4200rpm

sounds about right for the turbo range... hopefully it wont be anything serious like the turbo replacement, but I cant really think what else it could be than a leak or the unit itself...

Maybe you can send your car to the ford garage as they can solve these small problems without making many efforts. For further imformation, you can also look through it .
