Needed A Change.....

Besides the new mk7 Fiesta I have owned a VW Passat; the car was ok, fast enough, comfortable, but it was soooo boring to drive, so after 5 years it was a time to chage:

went to look a new mk3 Focus, with an ecoboost 182bhp engine, and didnt like it, I loved the way the mk2 drives, but the mk3 was just not as good, also, I just hate the new design of the mk3,especially the tail lights.....

Then, I fell in love :) with the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta: beautiful car, drives great, the DNA system works superb,so I went for it!

This was before: VW Passat 2.0 FSI

And this is now: Alfa Giulietta, 170 bhp, sport pack, leather interior, body kit, alfa rosso red :D

still waiting to be delivered, but it will be the same as the one in the picture: the same alloys, body kit,colour,interior......

Nice. They're very very pretty cars. They just need to do a GTA version, although as the 3.2 is now dead, I doubt it will ever happen. When does yours arrive?

I wanted a Mito as a company car, but they're not on the list because I think they are a bit more interesting than the fiesta.

I agree, they are really attractive cars. Mind the Italians have always made attractive cars.

Hope you enjoy it, ya lucky sod lol.

Looks really nice, makes a bit of a change to an everyday badge.

Just curious, did you consider the VW Scirocco at all?

I'm sure you'll enjoy it when you get your hands on it!

Still have to wait for a whole month :( cant wait that long, f**k

MRC89, yes, I have considered the vw scirocco, but there is a huge problem: the 1.4 TSI has a factory flaw, the engine destroyes itself after 30-40k kilometres..... 4/5 owners of the scirocco or golf 1.4 TSI had their engine completely changed after only 25 000 kilometers, and their second engines also started to judder and fall apart :(

EDIT: have a look here: http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=92571

Really? That's really interesting to know because I didn't know that, I know the engines in the VW T5 (I think the 2.4 petrol) are known for blowing water pumps and snapping the timing belt. Someone I know had this problem and he was stuck in France, he had breakdown cover but what a nightmare, and he'd only had the van for a couple of years since buying it brand new. I can't remember whether it was fixed under warranty but you would hope so.

All I can say is, so much for German reliability huh?

I'll be really interested to know how the car has been for you once you've had it for a few months. People say Italian cars are unreliable, but I don't think they're that bad. Most engines and vehicles have known issues so to speak. I've had two Punto's (a MK1 and a MK2 in 8valve and 16valve) and they were as solid as a rock, I drove 600 miles to Scotland in my MK1 and the headgasket didn't blow :D.

Anyway, have fun with your new car you lucky person :)

Wow, that's interesting, It's my dream car atm (along with the newly announced fiesta ST) But I was thinking 2.0 170ps GTD or 2.0 210ps GTI (with R body kits, cus I could never afford the R). Thanks for the link anyway.

What was the deal clincher with your alfa? It really is a stunning car mate :)

Italian cars are not unreliable, they always had a few things to sort out, but nothing major ( had a 1998 Alfa 156,owned it for 7 years, and had only 1 fault! ),on the other hand the citroen c2 which I had from 2007-2009 fell apart, 30! faults, engine came out twice..... should i go on?

I mean,it is silly that in the same time my 20 year old BMW E32 with a massive V8 engine had no faults, while the citroen spent most of its time at the repair shop

F*** the French,never buying a french car again

And the Alfa, well, the car drives beautifully, test drove the 2.0 diesel (hated the sound, never had a diesel, and never will)...

What made me decide to buy the Giulietta? beautiful design, nice handling, and the fact that it isnt a Golf :D

LOL :D I'm with you on that one, my father had a Scenic many years ago and it had to be towed into Renault about three times in the couple of years he owned the car since brand new. The plugs had individual coils on top of the plugs, not at the side of the engine in their own unit. The mechanic said it was a known issue, probably due to the heat of the cylinder head and it would blow the coils making the engine a cylinder short. What a stupid design!

And yeah, like your Citroen trim would oftenly fall off in places and the build quality was awful. I really don't like French cars, I have friends telling me I should have bought a Clio, but I know lots of people who have had nothing but problems with them. Headgasket's blowing, trim falling off, coil packs going on the newer engines. Just poor workmanship and design.

I personally love Italian cars and would love another Punto in the future, but I have my Fiesta now and it's such a nice drive so I can't see me wanting to get rid of it until it falls apart or rusts itself to peices.

The Alfa 156 is fantastic to drive, you get this feeling and the car is alive. Well, you'll know what I mean!

Not all French cars are bad....those that come out of a certain factory in Dieppe are pretty good! I think their lesser cars suffer a bit from Friday afternoon builds...I had an 05 Clio and it was a great little car, 1.4 petrol and no matter how hard it was driven it didn't break and the mpg never dropped below 40!

My BMW wasn't great. It broke once in three years (dead fuel pump), but a lot of things needed replacing; entire cooling system, rear springs twice, both wishbones, all bushes, rear shocks etc. All of which seem to be consumables in the world of BMW ownership. It did sound nice though...

BM turbo engines have a reputation for going bang when they ingest the plastic swirl flaps. So its not just VW forced induction engines that go pop.

I'm sure your alfa will be fine. It's new so at least you have a warranty to fall back on. Alfas of old weren't too bad, they just needed looking after.
