Rear Washer Leaking Into Boot

The other day I operated the rear washer and noticed that water was dripping from the headlining near the N/S rear window. Im wondering if there is a join in the pipe up there that may have come apart, or is it likely to be a split in the pipe itself?

If I need to take the headlining down to fix the problem how big of an issue is this? Is it likely to be a simple enough job?

Cheers.

Yes it sounds like it has split or come apart, it will run down the head lining,, there is a rubber tube from the car to the hatch, you need to look inside it , the water pipe goes inside, opening and closing sometimes splits it..the repair should be easy

I had a very similar problem with my old mk1 facelift. Take out your high-level brake light (think it has 2 torx screws) and you'll probably see straight away where the small hose has disconnected from the brake light unit. A little bit of tape on the hose after you've reconnected it should prevent you having to do this again in the near future.

Hope that helps you out. Let me know how you get on.

Its leaking more towards the N/S/R window than the rear window, so the water was landing about 1/2 way down the N/S of the boot carpet.

Water entering the body of your car,

is like a Labrador in heat,

it will run to where ever it finds a hole,

so the leak may well be at the back of the jet and the nearest outlet for it is where you’re seeing it appear.B)

check it out anyway.
