how do i check gear box oil and fill up

i believe the gearbox is sealed so you cant...from what i have read.

Im not sure if the tdci gearbox will be the same as the petrol. on the petrol there is a filler under the black plastic cover on the front of the gearbox, this should be filled until the oil is level with the hole. Don't have a haynes manual handy to check the procedure for the diesel
