james_60
Hi Just been checking car over as going to north wales relative visiting. Noticed that the car must be leaking water. The rear parcel shelf support on the passenger side in the boot has two access holes and inside there is a layer of foam. The said foam is saturated with what appears to be water. On removal of the rear tail light on the passenger side there appears to be two bungs. One for the wiring and one for erm nothing it appears. They both appear to be intact and secure. My reason for this post is : Where else could the water leak from. Have had the car less than a month and it is a ford direct vehicle. Will water leaks be covered. Jamie :-)

H3lly
On the mk1 the rear window washer tubing comes loose and leaks into the boot. I would check this first.
Lenny
Hi Where else could the water leak from. Have had the car less than a month and it is a ford direct vehicle. Will water leaks be covered. Jamie :-) Im 90% sure its the sealent fro the top of the rear window mate, water runs under the rear spoiler and eventualy overtime the seal at the top of the rear window seperates and allows the water to leak in to the boot, as a temperary measure you could rub vaseline along the flap of the rear spoiler where it jouns the roof, this will help prevent water getting in until they fix it for you mate, they will remove the rear window and reseal no worrys B)

james_60
Hi Dudes Collected car from cutts today. Water was leaking from the left hand boot hinge They have said that they have sealed it up and then did a pressure test (Jet Wash Lance) Will have to see if it has stopped leaking. Door handle on drivers door is faulty that is apparently why the lock button on the handle is not working properly and they have ordered a replacement handle All this work is under warranty so if anyone else has the above faults raise it with your service Dept. Jamie :-)

Druberry
Hi Jamie I hope this is the end of your problems but my focus is a 60 plate as welland reading about leaks ford are just not getting their act together, its an old model now so you expect these problems sorted. As you can see from my post, we should not be having these issues. At least you never had to pay for it. All the best Andy.
james_60
Hi Druberry Problem has returned and the foam in the parcel shelf supports (ledges inside boot where parcel shelf sits) Inside those shelves have foam inside and this is soaking on the passenger side. artscot79
I was waiting to hear that if it was the hingerg then the headlining would be wet id remove the rear lights and check to see if they are filled with crud down the drain gulley clean it up then use clear silicon on all the holes including the screw holes then remove the rear spoiler and do the same remove third brake lite check if its wet make sure washer hose is attatchd and use silicon to seal that if theres still a leak then the rear side quarter window is leaking
