alkyz89
Stepmg sorry to hear your having so much grief fella Where did you order yours from, and did you check it worked before you went too the trouble of tucking all the cables behind? If you choose to get another one, connect the ignition ring first and check it functions properly before you go to the hassle of feeding all the wires through...
Stepmg
Well it was working first time I fitted it but I couldnt get the lower steering cowling on with the ring in place so I left it in place but unconnected. Tried again today thanks to stoney's advice but now it wouldn't work or wouldn't go off. Bought it off jooceloosener but think I must have damaged it in some way. They are extremely delicate :(
alkyz89
Yea they are really delicate to be fair... What colour did you go for... I found I had to file the back edge to get it all back together.
Stepmg
I went for white but thinking of buying another for our fiesta which has the integrated red led lighting. I might have to buy a third one for the focus but the misses will go mental if she finds out. I have no idea what the problem is, I'm thinking a loose led

Lenny
Here's one that glow in the dark no wiring http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-2005-2012-Ford-Focus-3-KUGA-Ecosport-metal-ignition-key-decoration-keyhole-cover-Ignition/579951830.html
Stepmg
Cheers for the heads up Lenny. Just spotted the glow in the dark one but wasn't sure how it would look. The led ignition rings are ever so slightly more than eBay. It's the postage that whacks the price up. Has one bought direct from China?

Back in 2012 I bought one from china for 3.50 perhaps the price has gone up with interest in the product.Shop around on the sites even on that site if you search long enough you will find cheaper, Search "focusII" or "fox" We have an st where china have a fox
Stepmg
No idea what I'm searching for and my Chinese isn't what it used to be. Tad rusty.

Stepmg
The ignition ring from FocusEssentials is more expensive than jooceloosener and that doesn't include P&P. China all the way I guess, just need to find a source and I can save myself a fortune.
alkyz89
Yea I guess it depends on how quickly you want it... And how reliable your source is lol Lenny didn't you have it where you asked for certain colours and they just sent you whatever they likes (colour wise) lol But it is stupid how much postage costs in the uk!

And how reliable your source is lol Lenny didn't you have it where you asked for certain colours and they just sent you whatever they likes (colour wise) lol But it is stupid how much postage costs in the uk!That's correct mate I asked for 10 sets of climate controls and every single pack was anodized red :( Of course nobody wants red so I ended up selling them at cost price. Then the ignition ring lights I ordered 12 red and I got 3 blue 3 white and 3 red My last order was 6 ignition rings and 4 sets of scuff plates, I placed that order back in January 2012 I'm still waiting on that delivery... today They took my money but never sent my order Its pot luck really, Invest and f it arrives you got a great deal, but don't bank on consistency Chinese are very different to Japanese when it comes to bringing business links and trust, That's in all walks of business. Japanese pride themselves in quality and reputation and supply at a competitive price Chinese sell on quantity but they have no regard for how you get your items, they just want sold, money in there bank and how o get the item they don't care,
Stepmg
Jooceloosener seems to have a really quick turn around considering his location. Think I've come up with a plan. Try and fix the led ignition rings I have before buying any more else I'll get it in the neck. Has anyone fitted one of these to the mk8 fiesta? Think it'd look good in red with the red integrated lighting.
Stoney871
Jooceloosener is actually English and called Martin. His mother lives 'oop north' somewhere. I had to return something that wasn't compatible a couple of years ago and rather than pay a fortune to send it back to China I just posted it to Mum. Martin in my books is a good lad and always glad to help.
PaulR93
I received my ignition barrel today from the same eBay buyer arrived sooner than I thought but gutted I won't be able to fit it till the weekend :(. Can you change the silver trim around the air vents?
Stoney871
The air vent trims do come off, you have to remove the vents themselves and then the trims unclip. I am always looking for a set in black but nobody does replacement ones. I could spray them myself I suppose but haven't got around to thinking about it tbh.
GothicRebel
Becareful with the ring when instslling it. Tip. Unlock and pull the steering coloum all the way towards you before unlcipping everything. And becareful when slipping the bottom cover with the ring in back over the ignition barrel as the plastic LED ring is flimsy and brakes easy.
jeebowhite
best answer is to remove the outside facing part of the ignition barrel, then place the illuminated part over the ignition barrel. Then, replace the bottom cowling, and centre the LED's. Finally when you have it all screwed up, pop the shiny part of the ignition barrel over the top of where the LED's are and job done. Mine was too long, and I had to file them down a bit but it works easier this way for install :)
GothicRebel
I would not advise adding the plastic ring into the ring with the LEDs after fitting the LED ring into the bottom cover. I did this first attempt and it pushed the LEF ring onto the ignition barrel braking off a small resister on the LED ring. As I said above it's very flimsy. Place the LED ring into the ignition barrel hole and then push in the plastic ring through while the bottom cover is off and gently replace it over the ignition barrel. SUPERKING
Guys.. this is killing me.. I spent 6hours trying to do this thing and ended up ripping off the black wire so will need a new one.. Sorting out the wiring and connections is no problem.. I just cannot close the lower cowling!! I think the light ring is too big? Is that even the correct way around? What am I doing?
artscot79
if the half ring on the cowling is pinching just trim it a little shouldnt need much
