Hi just got my f super reader today, unfortunately does not do a lot, cannot see it in device manager windows 7 laptop,so cannot add it to my system and therefore install drivers, have emailed the place of ebay but nothing back yet, It does have a red light on it so would appear to be working, just wondered if any of you were experts with this device, and if I ever get it working what do you do? stick it in the interface in car and and read what it has downloaded to scanner? cheers neil.........

Do you know which version of Windows you have?

If Windows 7, do you know if it is 32bit, or 64bit?

if it is a case that the software is installed on your system, but it wont run on your system then.

right click on the software icon

scroll down to '' Properties''

in properties select ''Compatibility''

then you have the option to run this programme in compatability mode for:
Windows XP
Windows 2000
Windows 98
Windows 95

Sorry, never spotted in your original post that it was Windows 7

What eBay seller did you get it from?

A quick look on eBay throws up this seller astonbarck who claims to supply two varsions of the install CD. One for 32bit and 64bit
- Do you have an install CD that mentions anything about supporting 64bit?

You say you can't see the unit in Device Manager. Are there any devices listed as 'Unknown Device', or 'Other Device'?

It was super-trade-direct ebay seller, in the installation cd under drivers there is a folder called i386 and one called amd64 none of these have an exe file in them just .dll files.............no unknown or other devices found in device manager, its as though windows just dose not see it at all.if it wasnt lit I would say it is faulty!!

OK, first problem ... I would say we need to know if the unit works at all before figuring out if you have all relavant software to make it work on your computer

For the sake of a fail safe test method, do you have access to a Windows XP computer you could test it on?

it certainly says on the guys add that it is compatible with 64bit systems, however, unless your laptop happens to have an amd processor, than, based on what you've said, i am still unsure if it would work on most win 7 64bit machines

anyway ... one problem at a time

right then update just had it on xp desktop and scanner is found but is not called f-super it is under system devices called usb serial port comm 14......
I then installed formidable 2.03 off cd and ran it,it then connects through port 1 and asks me which model of car, and then tells me to connect scanner to obd port on car!! so I assume it is working ok on desktop, maybe I am looking under wrong heading in device manager on win 7 system....cheers so far lads...

There is a chance that it could be there somewhere, but maybe listed as something you wouldn't expect it to be
- As I say, one issue at a time ... best to try it on a tried and tested operating system

Right chaps second update and I think success...It looks like it had installed it under ports com &lpt it was named as usb serial port comm19.... I then ran formidable 2.03but it wouldnt connect as it only goes up to comm 8....so whent into comm port settings in device manager and found a not used comm port ( 2 ) re named it as that and now I can connect in formidable and get to model selection etc I will go and connect it to the port in car tommorow and hopefully all will work...( by the way where is it in my mondy mk4 estate? ) cheers again for bearing with me chaps....Neil

certainly on my mk2 focus and having seen it on previous mondeo's, it should be on the drivers side, under the steeringwhere area behing a flap about the same size as the connector you have
